Npower to cut 1,400 UK jobs in outsourcing to India

Blimey, as if npower's customer satisfaction rating wasn't bad enough already. Pretty scandalous imo and will almost certainly backfire on the company. This job cull equates to 15% of the current workforce!

PS Anyone reckon npower are thinking about pulling out of the retail side of the business in the UK?

Looks like the N Power fire sale is in full swing, call centres being relocated to India, closing them down in the UK, and flogging off unwanted customers to Utility warehouse.
Sounds as if they are going all out to retain their reputation for having the worst customer service of all the energy companies.

The parent company RWE pulled out of the wind farm in the Bristol channel (not a bad thing IMO).

Al in all MBS you could well be correct.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

  • Anything run by crapita seems to turn to...well, you get the idea.

I'm sure there were rumours around about 2009 that RWE were considering pulling out of the UK retail market (can't find a link to back it up mind). So yes MBS given this latest evidence it would appear they are ready to concentrate on other areas.

Space in the market for a state-run competitor perhaps?

I love Indian call centres, it takes them ages to realise if you had an accident and were fatally injured you are wasting their time.
  • Oh dear oh dear oh dear.

Really couldn't make it up. They're still going to be number one by 2015 (not sure what kind of number one they mean).

From what I can gather only (only?) the back office work will be passed to India, so that's after you have spoken to a staff member in the UK. They will be relying on someone in another country following their instructions.

I remember seeing a note from someone offshore saying the proposed meter reading is within tolerance. The reading was 10,000 units different to the one we started on.

Everyone should boycott Npower, if they don't then I'm starting to think those who blame customer apathy in part for the state of the energy market may have a point.

Maybe in India SAP will work?

I doubt SAP will work anywhere without huge amounts of investment! So glad I left Npower a month ago :-)
  • Just hope that Npower's Indian Call centre staff don't have to adopt Anglo-Saxon names like the computer scam mob.
  • Well a lot of people at Stoke spend their time rectifying the mistakes made in India, rather than actually being able to sort out customer accounts. I suppose now the people in India will be able to sort out their own mistakes? Or at least that's the logic behind npower's stupid decision!

I wonder how long they will have their license, also would not surprise me if they are not sold off
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.
