Switching to Npower 2017 fix Slooooow!?

2»

Comments

  • I started a switch from BG to nPower for gas only on Oct 17. Got the welcome email with contract details and tariff confirmation on Oct 23. Since then, nothing and BG have closed my gas account already.

That doesn't stack up. BG can't close your account until they receive the final meter reading from the new supplier Npower. As you don't appear to have yet given Npower the final reading, something doesn't make sense here.

You didn't close your account with BG directly did you? If so, that's not the way it's meant to be done.

    Regards

    Peter

You have a cooling off period like two weeks or so, so they just don't do anything in case you are a time waster, and cancel on them.

Then the electricity and gas seem to have two independent schedules, even if you are switching dual fuel to dual fuel.

For my last supplier switch, the periods for submitting the electricity and gas readings were days apart. I supplied both readings on the same day. The electricity reading was accepted and used in the first bill: but the gas switch over reading shows as an estimate. As it turns out, because I "didn't supply" a gas reading in the designated period, they had to wait till after that period, and then make an estimate, so the process can continue. By submitting the gas reading at the wrong time, I delayed the process by over a week. Nuts.

    Yes, but 'managed' by Crapita.

The flagship* call centre will still be in-house.

Similar to OP, applied to switch on 25 October. Email confirmed but since then absolutely nothing from them although they did confirm they had my details when i rang.

So no confirmation of switch, no contract etc has been received. Their website states you should get this within 7-10 days.

Their rep here didnt reply to the same query on another thread.

Their business model appears to be to do everything to turn away new customers. It appears they can break all the rules with impunity. Npower are unfit to be in business.

Fortunately I was able to cancel the switch today. A lucky escape I feel.

PS Oh and 2 calls today to them were cut off after 10-15 mins. They claimed average waits of 26 mins but these mean nothing when they do that. AVOID THIS COMPANY

Ha, as if by magic, I received an email the day after posting this. It was confirming my new account number and asking for meter reading between 2-9th December for electricity.

No mention of T&C, no tariff or monthly payment confirmation and no welcome pack received yet. Also, no mention of my Gas supply account or meter read yet either!

Same happened to me. No letter or contract received just an email to say changover was the next day and to provide readings, I'll try and do that tonight online.

update: Just registered online. Still no contract but everything else seems ok, correct tariff etc. (Apr-15 fix in my case).
