new phone.. any thoughts?
ok so after killing my nokia n80 (which i loved) by frying the brains trying to fix it myself i have been relegated to a phone for a 12 yr old.. type in alcatel OT808 to see what i mean!!
i mean i even dropped it in the bath and it STILL worked gaaahhhh
am thinking of putting a request into santa for a nokia lumia 520. As my first "real" smartphone..
does any one have any thoughts? or better recommendations?
i can get it from CW for £80 plus £10 top up..

Moto G is the only acceptable answer :-)0

I wouldn't say a Moto G is better than a 520. Different yes, but the WP platform is much better suited to budget smartphones.0

bear in mind i am a total novice with touchscreen phones and can use windows on a computer, i do like the look of the 520. i may be able to manage it and if i cant i've only wasted £80.
has anyone got one and can give me the pros and cons?0 -
There is 3 phones in my mind for £70 - 100
Motorola Moto G
Nokia 520
Hauwei Y300
Spec wise, Moto is fastest, but it is more expensive, and don't have micro-sd
Nokia run on Windows, I notice app used to be release in order of IOS > Android >> Windows0 -

Is Moto really the fastest?
I've not owned a Lumia 520 but have briefly used one and it is quite slick.0 -

This may have been the case a short while ago but I genuinely believe the Moto G has blown all other budget smartphones (no matter what OS they use) out of the water. Price has really been the only ace up Windows phones' sleeve and I think the Moto G has destroyed that USP. And it will be getting KitKat by the end of next month, an OS that Google specifically developed to run smoothly on budget handsets with much inferior specs to the Moto G. This phone is a game changer.0 -

While I wouldn't totally disagree, the Lumia has a lot going for it other than it's price. It is a slick interface and WP have done an amazing job of optimising it's platform for smartphones.
May be it's true - but I would be very sceptical if a Moto G could actually outperform a 520 in the real world. I'm surprised that the Lumia range never really took off considering what they offer.0 -
thanks all.
i do hanker after the 520, it just looks nicer and dare i say it prettier?0 -
