You really do need to read the meters, daily if possible and get an idea of where and when you are using your electricity and if you are on E7 the consumption of your day & night rates.
As said, at this time of year you could easily be using 30 units a day especially if you are using more water & extra heating. which is likely to increase to 40-50 when it gets really cold whereas in the summer months it can be less than 7 or eight.
Are you on E7 and using auxiliary heating during the day - that will increase your costs quite a bit. If you are on E7 then you should try and do your washing at night during the lower cost periods.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
Your ECO 7 meter has two readings, one for power used in the day and another for power used overnight - So was it the the Day or Night reading which is showing the increased use ?
A common problem with ECO7 is that the resident has accidently left the Hot Water boost switch on and the Immersion Heater is useing power 24/7
Also it's worth reading the meter at noon and then again in the early hours to verify which reading is the Day rate and which is the Night - It's quite common for the supplier to be recording these the wrong way round0 -
