The phone is 19 months old and out of warranty, Your home insurance will have an excess, it may be cheaper to look for a local repairer, or use someone online. A quick google seach (no I'm not related to them, I used a company close to my home to fix my wifes) comes up with http://iphonespecialist.co.uk with the reapir listed at £30 plus postage to them.

The reason for change in network provider is to extremely poor customer service. I've been badgered for weeks by them trying to get me to take out additional lines and offering a contracted ipad yet the first time I ask for a call back (irrelevant of what the outcome may or may not be), they can't do this??

And as for the cheap local repairer, I'd rather pay a bit extra and go through the insurance company who will send me to Apple and I will be given a reconditioned phone.

And besides all this, I'm pressing for the phone to be repaired/replaced free of charge. Its a common fault on the iphone 4/4s therefore I should not be out of pocket. GHD replaced hair straighteners based on this without so much of an argument...yes the product is completely different but still.
