It's only secure as in the client is the only one with the code, which was left on view for several days.

He needs to find out what they will put in his reference. It may just be confirmation of dates and role as this is all some companies offer anyway.
If thats the case then he doesnt need to say anything.
Its upto the new company what they think is satisfactory or not. Some places dont even bother checking references.0 -

1) wait it out to see if he can go back
2) immediate resignation, disciplinary not concluded, clear basic ref, no notice pay (it'd be 1,500)

Firstly - start your own thread as your issue is completely different from this threads origins.
Secondly - apologise to the company that you work(ed) for and ask them if they can agree on a reference and what will be mentioned to anyone who asks.
Thirdly - Are there any other consequences of this fight? eg. legal action, police arrest etc? Take those into account for whether they effect what jobs you will be able to get in the future.0 -
