OS Daily Wednesday 27th November

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

  • Good morning everyone :)

Hi and fly visit as running late.

Most Christmas gifts ordered for GDD with saved Amazon vouchers arrived yesterday and I have bought one of those large gift bags from the Card Warehouse, so may wrap them tonight and get them in the loft.

Better get going for another day in the h...hole, so will leave with usual well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep well, warm and safe and have a super day :)

  • Morning all!

Sammy-cat actually let me sleep till I woke this morning so I'm up early but feel like I've had a lie in :)

There's talk of M coming home from the hospital - possibly by the weekend. But the bad news is that she may never be able to drive again - she's to go to the optician who may be able to help or the sight may return of its own accord but it might be gone for good. We'll know for sure in 3 months as that's the expected recovery time. Occupational Therapy is going to instal a grab handle and stool in their shower today.

My day involves taking Sammy-cat to the vet to have a sore checked. He's been having treatment for what seems like forever to try and avoid an operation. So we'll see what the vet says. Then I've to collect a prescription for D and pick up my meds from the pharmacy. At M&D's I'll look after my vegetables (cold frame and greenhouse up there). After that, a trip to Mr S to buy the v. expensive food which is all Sammy-cat will eat at the moment and to pick up a few bits for me. Then it's hospital visiting, return to M&D's to put the plants to bed and home for dinner. Farming friend will either bring veg over tonight (he didn't make it last night) or I'll be tucked up in bed watching TV. Cause I'm tired and I'm cold and feeling overwhelmed and in need of Me Time.

Hope everyone else has a good, MSE kind of day :)

    Morning All

    Happy Birthday Sistercas DD.
njl - Hope your mum gets well soon.

Depression towers here, there was a possibility we could have the certificate from SEPA today as we were told it was going to be issued on Monday but the Solicitor chased them up yesterday and they said it had to be referred to a local office first. This was the same person he spoke to and completely changed their story from Friday to Monday. So, in short we will not move this week. Oh well, will carry on existing.

It's really mild here but damp again, I think I prefer it to be cold and dry.
Washing fairly up to date till DD clears here room I suppose.

Not sure what's for tea, had pork belly yesterday - tasty but the fat does put me off.

Have a good day everyone, take care. XX

    Good morning everyone :hello:

Slept in till 6.30 this morning so only just managed to catch hubby for a quick kiss before he left for work. The girls are up and happy as I told them we could put the decs up on Friday as they have an inset day and on Saturday the grandchildren come over for breakfast and usually spend the whole day here so it would be 'interesting' trying to put the tree up with their 'help' :rotfl::rotfl:

I'm off to weightwatchers this morning to face the music....she says nervously eyeing the empty aero mousse pots next to my keyboard. :o
After that I'm popping up to Asda to pick up some clothes I've ordered for DD12 and also I have to collect my glasses from Specsavers and then pick up yet more clothes from New Look for same daughter. She is so fussy, we spent hours looking at websites before she decided on what she wanted. I would never dream of choosing for her any more as everything I thought was nice was shot down in flames.

Anyway, that's all for now. Hope everyone manages to have a nice day. Hugs to NJL, hope your day isn't too stressfull for you. Hugs to everyone else too whether you want one or not :rotfl:.
    Cheers m'dears x

    Morning everyone

Sistercas - happy birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x

Just now getting light, looks cloudy and overcast.

DH up and getting ready for work, he's much better than he was, still not 100%, normal time start.

Dinner last night was gammon, egg, onion sauce, mash, peas and mushrooms. DH didn't want the gammon, as he'd cooked himself something at lunchtime, then had a bowl of soup last night. Tonight we'll be having roast chicken, not sure what I will be doing with it, but have plenty in so we won't starve!

Work was another busy day yesterday - technology is letting us down majorly at the moment - the IT Dept keep running "updates" at the weekends, and every time they do we have problems from when we start on Monday morning. Systems were terribly slow yesterday and the screens just keep freezing - hoping they can do something that will improve the situation. Luckily I'm only working until lunchtime, then I'm on days off, have all the normal chores to do, so will crack on with those when I get home.

    Keep safe and well x

    Hi everyone,

NJL - best wishes for your mum, it's a worry isn't it. The docs have now decided to keep my mum in to do an in depth scan to see if they can pinpoint what's happening. I'm not holding my breath though as they have said several times in the past few months that they are going to do a specific test and then just sent her home because they need the bed.

    Happy birthday sistercas' daughter.

That's all I'm going to write because I need to get going this morning. May be back later.
