living in Scotland where would I be taken to court?

I live in Scotland, my car is registered to my address in Scotland.

Pub discussion.

If I got a parking ticket from a council in England for not displaying a parking ticket in a council car park and ignored it and was subsequently sent a notice to keeper pay up or else and I said sue me, could they and where would they sue me?

And if it was at a court in England could they send the police to arrest me and take me there if I ignored them?

Not that I've got one.

its a civil matter not a criminal matter so I fail to see why the police would be involved

Not from most English Councils, nope. Most are decriminalised and so offer stages of appeal and then if unpaid/ignored they apply for an order for recovery and send the bailiffs in. There is no summons.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

None of the replies seem to address the "Fine in England, RK lives in Scotland" aspect. Would an English council pursue against a Scottish resident?

At last, someone actually read and understood my post.

    send the bailiffs in.

Can an English court send the bailiffs in to an address in Scotland?

Certainly not if independence goes through. ;)

But the short answer is - I don't know, but I'd also be interested in finding out. (Again, from a theoretical standpoint - I have no pending or expected cases to answer).

I think they would - as it's the same sort of decrim system in Scotland - but am not certain! Could ask on pepipoo forum?

Not quite the right answer as its specific to parking eye type companies but it appears that private parking fines may be unenforcable in scotland.

that said i see no good reason that a valid english parking fine (for a contravention of rta such as double parking and thereby obstructing access for the fire service for example) would not be enforcable and the same process would be followed for any debt incurred in England.

Thinking more generally - most Scottish companies will have their contracts governed by english law as opposed to scots, in reality they are much of a muchness for day to day purposes. Ive successfully collected debts from english debtors as a the accountant of a scottish company and see no reason why the reverse should not be true

Private parking tickets are completely different (chalk & cheese) - they aren't fines and are unenforceable and beatable in England & Wales! Everywhere!
