Hi, need to find out if this is right. I am moving house on Friday and phoned sky to arrange home move was told they couldn't install until 11 th Dec which is too long and that new property would have bb speed of 2 -7 . I wasn't happy with this and spoke to Virgin who could give a much better service in this area. I then called sky back to cancel and have been told need to give 31 days as per t&c however I will not receive any services in new house in this time as they refuse to send out an engineer as in cancellation period can they still charge me full amount for 31 days for things I can't access I pay for full tv with sport and movies, phone and bb. Any advice on what to do? Sorry to ramble a bit.

Yes they can charge you as you haven't given the required notice of 31 days and you are making a choice to move. If you were continuing with the service you may have got a credit for the downtime between moving and the new installation.
It's not them refusing to send out an engineer, just that it's probably the earliest date there is a installation slot in your area.
You could attempt to argue the toss with Sky, but I wouldn't think you would be successful.
I don't know your situation, but it seems maybe you left contact with Sky too close to your move date. If you had got in touch earlier you may have got a home move nearer to your actual move date.0 -

I was with Sky and told them a month in advance that I was going to move. They said I'd have to pay for two more months (I'd been with Sky for years) but that my broadband could be cut off long before the date I moved and that the only way to ensure I had broadband up until my moving date was to not tell them officially until a few days before I moved house. It seems it depends on who you talk to.0

You must've been just inside a new month when you notified them so you had the remainder of that month plus your month notice, which I'm guessing can be up to 60-odd days? Or is it 31 days standard notice, regardless? Anyone know?0 -
31 days regardsless... they give you the final bill amount on the phone0
