As the title above says.
How can I watch videos that are on my laptop on my TV without connecting the two?
Just wondering because I want something small that holds my videos and that i can easily plug in and also store away when I don't need it

A media player with memory card or Usb connector should do what you need. Then copy any files onto a memory card/usb flash drive on your laptop and put it in the media player to play the files.
Even a tablet could do what you want. There are lots of possibilities.
That is if your TV has a hdmi connector. If it is a flat panel then it might have one. Older bulky CRT TV's won't have one.

If you have a fairly new TV then the chances are that it will have a USB socket on the back or side of it and the TV may well be able to play videos directly from a memory stick or HDD plugged into this socket.
What is the make and model of your TV?0 -
I have no idea what a HDMI thing looks like.
My TV is a Technika 15.4" HD Ready LCD TV with Freeview0 -

Assume the letters HDMI aren't written on the socket?
Assume Google doesn't work on your computer
Assume the TV instruction manual was eaten by a passing wildebeest0 -
if it's HD ready it'll more than likely have a HDmi port.0

If it is HD Ready it has to have either a HDMI or DVI-d port and you can change one to the other with a dumb connector (the signal is the same just the port shape different and HDMI can also carry sound.
You have a couple of options:
1) If it has a USB port you can stick the media onto a memory stick and use that directly in the TV but the tesco website suggests it doesnt have one
2) You can buy a media player that allows you to store the content on it and connect that to your TVs HDMI port
3) You can buy a media streamer/ player that allows you to stream content from your computer via it to the TVs HDMI in either a "push" or "pull" method
Depending on your other needs and current kit it may be best to get something like a Smart Blu-Ray player which would fulfil option 3 and allow you to play bluray disks, DVDs etc0 -

That's even smaller than a laptop screen.

HDMI lead Though you can use a much shorter one.0 -
Oh that thing.
Yeah my TV is small but it does the job and I didn't have to pay for it.
So can you recommend a cheap media player then?0 -
