I looked at them all and went with a 16GB Nook HD for £99 at Argos could have got it for £90 at PC World online..doh. It's got a great browser and is now allowing all the android apps and the Play store onto it can't go wrong as it nice and light...0

As an aside, Aldi/Medion have never let me down. 8 year old PC still going strong. No idea about this tablet though. Danish supermarket brand, or at least I think it used to be?0

CC-Warrior - I get your point, and specs aren't everything, but the resolution of the screen is out of date rubbish, as Dreamnine points out. £60 in Clubcard points for the Hudl is better, also consider the 2012 Nexus 7 if you can find it, or Kindle Fire 7 HD if you can get it at a decent price and are willing to put up with (or hack to get it) no Play Store. I would also spend the extra on the Nook HD mentioned above.
Walcott - half the battle is finding out who the manufacturer is in this case, and finding their website. Don't expect updates. Even the big brands haven't got a great track record in this regard. Yes BT 2.1 is ancient. They're onto 4 or so now, mostly offering energy saving and speed improvements.
FirstTimer4Me - if you're not sure about specs, don't buy a non-branded tablet. You can be blinded by impressive looking specs like quad core processor, or crystal clear screen, but it'll be out of date stuff inside.
I don't know of a GOOD 10" tablet for £100 new.0 -

Just noted at my local Lidl's has a 7" tablet on offer for £90, a quick run through the specs v the Nexus 7, it looks somewhat similar maybe GPS is missing.
No expert on these things, am I missing something? Is this as good value as it seems? Only really need to surf the web.
Any help or advice gratefully received.

To answer the original query - it is a perfectly respectable tablet. My only major problem with it is a slightly low maximum volume. The cameras are pants but that doesn't worry me at all.
I was first in the queue (non existant!) on Monday morning and bought the store's total stock of 2 (yes TWO) tablets! That is the point - you cannot buy one however good you think it is! (unless you go to Germany where they are widely available)
I have bought loads of Lidl stuff over the last year or two and it has all been well made and VERY good value. I have thus never once had to use their customer service! I sent a query to the TrekStor folks (about the volume) and got a personal answer in less than 24 hours. I bet you wouldn't get that service from many computer companies!0 -

Thank you for that.
On the volume issue I find tablets can vary by the software (app) rendering the sound, for instance I always install the excellent MX Player as the default video player on any Android devices. I have found that setting the audio decoder to 'software' instead of the default 'hardware' gives really considerably louder playback of annoyingly quiet movies.
Just saying the volume capability may be there in the device, it just needs bringing out to its best.
How are you finding the screen?0 -
Screen is fine - sometimes too small to read but then zoom-in works fine. It depends mostly on the content. The BBC Weather and the News Apps (for instance) look great. Accessing the BBC site via a browser is a lot more difficult. Video quality on full screen looks nice.
Let's put this in perspective - its a sub £100 tablet!
By the way - I'm a video engineer with 40 years experience so I know what a good picture should look like!
Audio level is cured by trying all my headphones and using the one with the loudest result!
The main problems I've had are with Android rather than this particular tablet. But in general my wife and I are delighted.0 -

1GHZ Quad core A7 processor and a PowerVR dual core graphics processor isn't going to be so bad is it?
6 hours of video time is what you will get out of a HUDL too.
(removed - a bit unnecessary on my part)
IF you have got £60 of Tesco vouchers fair enough buy the HUDL, obviously its better but it costs 35% more so it should be! but you only get Tesco vouchers from wasting other money shopping in Tesco.. many of us avoid it!
I checked when Hudl came out and I had £1 of Clubcard vouchers - doubled to £2.
I bought this Lidl Trekstor tablet for my wife and I'm (she is) quite pleased with it. Much slimmer and more elegant than the Hudl. Got a pretty folding case / stand, matching white headphones and a micro HDMI connector from Poundland so now I have a smart TV - when my wife lets me use it of course. [should have bought two of them]0
