Is o2 taking the p*ss

Hi, 2 years ago i took out iphone with o2.. now i remember i paid 2 months on 1st payment as they say we pay a month in advance.. wasnt hjappy at the time.. contract now up and i cancal last month... phone will end 30 nov.. had one more bill to pay i said no i paid 2 month at the begining as we had to pay in advance... they saying i havent and sent proof of bank statment and they are now denying they did not recieved this payment.. Wife taken one with o2 3 week ago and they billed her yesturday for 2 month worth and when we query it they said you pay one month in advance... what should be 32 a month is 64 this month.... what can i do???

  • Your first bill is always higher... Because you pay your line rental 1 month in advance you also pay the line rental from the time you start to the time your first bill is created. If you time your disconnection right (30 days before minimum term expiry) you will get a full months charge which would normally take you beyond the disconnection date to then get a refund of line rental billed beyond the disconnection date. This happens with everyone.

    E.g. Your monthly charge is £30 but it takes 2 weeks to get your first bill... You pay 1 bill of £30 + the first 2 weeks at £15. You then pay 23 payments of £30 which means you've paid 24.5 months. Timing the disconnection right means you would have disconnected half way through the last £30 line rental period meaning your final bill will be those last 2 weeks refunded and will be -£15.

    Yep after along call now understand.. had to pay moth in advance but due to getting phone 3 weeks ago had to pay 7 month worth the 1st month
