Have I missed the boat ?

Hi all My son received a parking charge notice while driving my car earlier this year in Sports Direct St Helens, G24, and after a quick read found that I should ignore this etc, so I did this, but the other day I received a letter from CCS Collect (a branch of G24 I believe) claiming further action may be taken. So to reassure myself I researched more about these and found that I may have possibly missed a chance to get this bogus charge cancelled, can anyone point me in the right direction as other posts say I should have wrote to them when I received the NTK letter but some say ignore them altogether any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Yes, things changed in Oct 2012. Have a read of the stickys on this forum in case it happens again but in this instance you can do three things;
1 ignore G24 and their debt collectors up to receiving genuine letter before action in which case come back for specific advice after reading this https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4754020, and
2 complain to the landowner and/or retailer and have them get it cancelled, especially if it can be proved that your son was a genuine customer (bank statement etc)
3 you can name your son as driver which resets the clock and will allow him (or you for him) to appeal.
EDIT - Ah, just re-read and 3 might not be an option if there was a windscreen ticket0 -
Thanks, it was a camera an they sent a pic through the post, if he appeals is he likely to have it quashed?0

Have I missed the boat ?
No - but you seemed to have missed this vital advisory thread?

It is the most up to date, contemporary and comprehensive body of advice available on how you should proceed with your (son's) problem.
Come back if there's anything you don't understand. But the more research you do for yourself, the easier you will find it to deal successfully with all of this. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

You could send this if you want to reset the clock and use popla, but come here for help with this. Send to both companies with proof of postage and via email if you wish

Yes if the driver waits for their Notice to arrive in the post, then appeals, then words the POPLA stage right - as per the sticky thread already linked!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Hi all back again, further to the advice I received last time I posted letters explaining that my son was the driver and not me and have received a correspondence from G24 stating that ,
Unfortunately my period of appeal has now expired as explained on the rear of the CPCN and I now have to options
1. Pay Up
2. Do nothing and they will seek to recover monies.
Any further advise would be helpful as I was expecting them to send a notice to my son.
Thanks in advance.0 -
safely ignore them, you have discharged registered keeper liability by providing the drivers details.
Oh - and complain to BPA that they refuse to leave you alone after you have given the drivers details0 -
Thanks Martymonk, is it worth sending them a letter stating that any further letters would be viewed as harassment ? Thanks again Dale0
