Error in O2 phone charges-advice needed

Sorry if I have posted in the wrong place, but help is needed. I currently have a 12 month contract with O2. My last phone bill had internet chargers of £102!!! (average is £5 per month). I contacted O2 to question this and they said that at 12.40am 8th May I downloaded £80's worth of data. I totally deny this, but they are saying that the phone may have been left on, I can't agree with this either as I always make sure the phone has gone back to the main screen and the "world" icon is off, and if the phone had been left surely it would only download that [ages content and then stop, to me lots of pages would need to be viewed to get £80's worth of charges.

Does anyone have any advice on how I should progress this, I am expecting a call from an O2 manager soon, and as I said I would cancel the direct debit if it wasn't sorted.

Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks
