Ok so it can stay for two years but does anybody know what the point of it is? It's an absolute eyesore.

I mean, seriously, would you want this anywhere near you?

It seems it was put up to celebrate the Golden Jubilee. If Aunty Betty had seen it she'd still be having nightmares.

I'm in favour of the monarchy but that is an advert for Republicanism.
  • "Party colleague Mark McKinty said the crown was attracting tourists to the town."

    Tourists? Larne? Really? :-)

Is that what they call them now?

That's one great thing about us Irish, we come up with great names for statues and monuments. :D
  • Thing that gets me is they had "NO PLANNING PERMISSION"

This from councillors who will be getting more power over Planning in the years to come.

    I can just picture it.

Ah... Mr (Insert Councillors Name Here)
About that Country Pad/New Development/Shopping Centre (Delete as appropriate) I was looking to build.... Are you "sure" there's nothing I could do to "help" that process along.... I'm a great supporter of (Insert Party Name Here) and have made a number of donations to them.. Why here's another small donation, a token of my appreciation for all you have done for the community (i.e. me) in the years past and to come !!

I think "caught with their trousers down" is appropriate in this case.
