This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Good morning everyone
Very tired after long day yesterday so think I will be in bed early tonight.
Julie - I am so very sorry about cancelled op. It has happened to me several times in the past but last time I was in I was told the hospital has a policy now of not cancelling cancer surgery so it should not happen again ..... we will see. I hope you get a cancellation so you do not have to wait until January.
notjustlaura - am very sorry to hear about your mum and hope she is home very soon.
hilstep - you have been through such a lot recently, it's no wonder that you feel tearful. Hope you are feeling lots better soon.
Bitsy Beans - welcome back! My OS had been terrible lately but I still post here in the hope of some good influence rubbing off on me
NAR - no chance, us Scousers eat city slickers alive :rotfl:
RosyRed - congratulations on new grandson
Butterfly Brain - that is a gorgeous stove, I am green with envy!
Apologies if I have missed any news but will try and catch up more later.
Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Morning all
Frosty & cold here this morning, fish fed, hubby & I both have a cuppa, I'll do his cooked breakfast is a minute, I'll wait for the free porridge at work.
I spent yesterday mulling over the connection between scousers & an art exam, I believe Liverpool was the City of Culture one year, maybe that why I was asked to print 50 copies of an document entitled Art Exam Rescousers!
Hugs to all those in need.
Have a good day.

Thanks TTFM, my mum's doing really well and might get home at the weekend.
Yesterday was a busy day and the week's going to continue in the same vein. My farming friend is bringing me a batch of veg tonight (if all goes to plan) and my chest freezer (Christmas gift from M&D) is coming on Thursday so I have to get ready for that. The cleaner comes today so I'm going to ask her to have a good clean where the machine will be going. I'm also going to have her put the winter duvet on as I'm starting to feel the cold at night.
Mass, into town while cleaner cleans, lunch, hospital visiting, dinner, receive veg and plan what to do with it/shopping list/online shop for me today. I do like to be busy but I confess I'd quite like a quiet day by the fire today! Ah well - I'll be fine when I get going.
Dinner tonight is Haricot Bean Stew with Sweetcorn and Rice.
Hope everyone else has a good, OS day todayHousehold: Laura + William-cat

Morning :hello:
I haven't sorted that fabric out yet. There were a few bits behind a chair in the corner of the lounge, so I started with that. I noticed the dust behind there, so pulled the chair out to hoover behind it, then noticed that the phone and modem wires were a bit tangled so I unplugged them and tidied them up. Next thing I knew, half the furniture was pulled out and the coffee table was piled high with lamps, candles, etc while I worked my way round the skirting boards, de-cobwebbing and dusting. What is it with men and wires? They tangle them all up – TV, stereo, speakers, DVD player.......... all in a messy knot. I ended up rearranging half the furniture and I now have tidy wiresAnd you should've seen the cobwebs and dust down the back of the radiator
So today, I WILL go through that fabric
It was -1.9° at 6am. We took the radiator out of the kitchen a couple of years ago, it got too hot in there. It was a bit too cool this morning so I lit two rings on the hob, by the time the kettle had boiled it was nice and warm.
I tuck the curtains behind the radiator in the lounge at night, the hem is all creased and folded up messily in the morning. I need to take about an inch off the length. I can't be bothered to take the curtains down so I'll park a chair next to the window and do it while they're still hanging
The Christmas song list is ready, it's almost December. So start warming up your vocal chords

Good Morning chums almost all of my Christmas shopping is done
:):) Thank goodness,no trailing around the shops being pushed and shoved by grumpy folk. Now I only have to wrap it all up and seperate into various piles. As I also have six birthdays before Christmas as well to buy for I am quite pleased that its all done, bar a few small little 'tree' presents.
My lovely son -in-law is 43 today so happy birthday to Simon who works so hard for his kids and my DD he is a real hands on Dad and even irons the children school uniform for them evry morning first thing:):)Between them my DD and him raise the children and there is no job he won't have a go at or give DD a hand with.
Coffee morning this morning and pub quiz tonight so as always Tuesday is a busy day.
Just starting to get light now and looking out of my study window its looking a bit nippy out there so warm wrap-up clothes are called for I think
Have a great day everyone what ever you are doing

Morning everyone
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
Just now getting light, looks cloudy and overcast and frosty.
DH still in bed, came home from work sick yesterday - he's still got the horrible cough etc - but is moaning when I try to help ie, bought more meds etc, men are such man babies when they're not well. I'm not particularly happy as he "felt that ill I had to come home" at 11.30am - so why didn't you call in at the Docs and get an appointment if you felt that ill? Cue major strop etc - I'm seriously not impressed, as on the rare occasions I'm unwell I still have to do everything at home. I know I sound a right nasty b***h but he doesn't do anything to help under normal circumstances so if he's not working and not doing anything to help at home I finish up doing everything, and it just gets a bit wearing. I think the worst part is that he doesn't see that he should help under normal circumstances either. He will just sit in front of the tv all day today, even though he's so "ill". Hoping he will go back to work tomorrow.
Dinner last night was fish, chips and beans for the boys, I had jacket pot, tuna mayo and salad. DH didn't want any.
Tonight is likely to be gammon, egg, mash, onion sauce and peas.
Work yesterday was a manic Monday - so hoping today will be a little less busy. There was a large queue at the door when we opened yesterday morning and it was just continous from then.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning everyone :hello:
Brrr, it's a bit chilly here this morning. The girls still went off to school minus their coats though...what can you do! I'm planning a quiet day at home today as I'm expecting some parcels. I'm sure the men on the recycling lorry wonders about us as we've always got huge bundles of cardboard to go out every week but most of that is the enormous boxes Amazon seem fit to use even on relatively small items.
I made a chocolate and coconut cake yesterday but it seems a little dry. Never mind, nothing that lashings of custard won't fix :rotfl:. I also roasted two chickens bought BOGOF from Tescos yesterday so I foresee lots of curries, pies and soup in the future.
Evil kitten has settled now after his poor brothers demise. He is turning out to be not so evil after all. I shall have to think up another nickname for him. He's very affectionate and funny but I am not looking forward to seeing what he is going to do to the christmas tree. Speaking of which, only four more days till our decs go up. I am just a teeny bit over excited :xmastree::xmastree::xmastree::rotfl::rotfl:
Well, I hope everyone manages to have a good day. Take care and as always gentle hugs for all who would like one.
Cheers m'dears x0 -
