Parking Fine

I received a parking fine in February for parking at the Peel Centre in Stockport. As advised on this forum I've been ignoring their demands. On Friday my parents received a letter at their address written to me in my married name (I've not lived at their address for 12 years and have been married for 8). Just wanting advising if I should tell them to return the opened letter or just ignore it? Also, does anyone know if this is their usual course of action? Thanks in advance for any replies.

firstly, it was not a parking fine, it was a parking charge for parking on private land

secondly, the law changed a year ago and so you should not be ignoring any letters

clearly its too late to go down the modern route as outlined in the sticky threads (soft appeal and then POPLA)

Can you tell me if your vehicle is in your name , have you registered the vehicle there? If not has anyone contacted excel at all? They should only have the name of the registered keeper, are you sure it's for that vehicle and not one registered to your parents?

Never just return a letter nor throw it away if it is demanding money. Obviously don't pay Excel either though!

I would respond to it if it is a Notice to Driver, send a challenge AS KEEPER (not driver) use the address they used & hope for a POPLA code. We have seen another thread exactly like this, yes, this week on here. The OP complained to the BPA and they investigated and said that Excel had sent the second Notice because they were told who the driver was by the keeper who was a company I think.

Is this a company car, or a hire car, where they could have responded to a letter at some point naming the driver but giving an old address?

I stand corrected, a parking charge sorry. I ignored the demands for payment as instructed by members of the forum. Are you suggesting I should pay the charge?

No thank you! The vehicle is registered in my name and the vehicle has never been registered at that address. The letter was addressed to myself, just at my parents address where I've not lived under my married name, nor since I owned my present car.

The vehicle isn't a company or hire car no. Unfortunately my parents went away the day after receiving the letter so haven't had chance to see the contents yet myself.

I don't understand this at all, this should not be possible as they should be writing to the registered keeper at the address on the v5, you should ask the dvla what address they have supplied the parking company with. Is it excel or a debt collector writing to you?

They've previously written to me at my home address. I presume it's a debt collectors but as my parents are away at the moment I'm not able to actually look at the letter.

This is obviously harassment, they should not be writing to anywhere but the address on the v5, I'm not sure if this is an abuse of the oft guidelines, but my thinking is that a response should be made to this letter.

Obviously we need to know what the contents of the letter is, and who it's from first. So please come back when you have the letter in your hand
