sellers not posting to NI

Worryingly Santander also regard NI as 'abroad' and will block your credit card if you try to use it without informing then you are travelling. This happened to my husband even though he had booked a ferry and a hotel with the same card. When I queried it the operator said 'well he must have know it was abroad because he went on a ferry':rotfl:

My BT postcode automatically flags it up when the seller does not post to NI and I can't proceed with the purchase
I don't actually have Northern Ireland as part of my ebay saved address.
The great thing with ebay is that there is always another seller who WILL post to the weird and wonderful BT postcode!

N.I. can be a problem for packages which is why some sellers just say no to all purchases. I just sent a bundle of books to a buyer in N.I. it was much cheaper with Parcel Post than the usual courier.0

I think this thread has made all the NI buyers come out and buy- I seem to have done nothing but send items to people with a BT postcode in the past couple of days!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Get the same for Highlands and Islands. I can understand for large items but when their normal delivery method is RM it seems silly of them. The worst thing for me is that courier deliveries to several non H&I post codes (standard "mainland" delivery charges) are delivered from a depot in my town which is in the H&I delivery area.0

But when I have pointed out to them that they are happy to post the items to elsewhere in UK and has there been an error that states they won't post to NI - the answer on all 3 occasions has been - "no we don't post to NI even though we use Royal Mail!"
They're just a bit thick then, and as someone else said, think they'd be posting 'abroad'. I'd be inclined to politely educate them on 'the UK' and Royal Mail. I've never ever come across that from a seller though - very weird.*Look for advice, not 'advise'*

Can it? Why?
Again, I've never come across a seller refusing to send to NI, maybe I've just been lucky so far.*Look for advice, not 'advise'*

This is so weird! I've had Ebay things sent to NI many times - never a problem. I'm kind of worried now!*Look for advice, not 'advise'*

I have Ireland blocked... Too many INRs.
Ireland or Northern Ireland? I know my Mum has had a lot of items go missing when posting to and from NI and Southern Ireland.*Look for advice, not 'advise'*
