Little Mistress Returns

Hi, has anyone bought any clothes from the online store 'Little Mistress' and returned them for free?

It says 'Free Returns' on the front page of the website, but the returns label just has an ordinary address, and the packing label also states "Please note it is your responsibility to ensure the items are returned to us safely, we recommend using a traceable postal service." So that means I can't just stick the label on and put it in the post box.

Can anyone help? I've tried emailing them, but I get a generic email reply, from an un-named person, with no phone number to reach them on.

On the whole, I don't feel very positive about this experience. Particularly as the quality of the clothes is very poor for the price (in my opinion.)

Thanks:)

Yes it is confusing it says free returns but then suggests you pay for registered delivery which I can't imagine is free!

They look like a bit of a joke company really.

I've just looked at their website. That 'Free Returns' banner is a complete lie because their terms and conditions say 'The cost and care of returning the item (s) to us is the customers responsibility.' They also say that returned sale items won't be refunded, instead you'll have to put up with an exchange or credit note. The Distance Selling Regulations say otherwise.

I suggest you email them pointing out these discrepancies.

The Advertising Standards Authority will also be interested to hear about this thoroughly misleading sales tactic.

no contact number, company reg or any inkling as to which law governs sales. Website is registered to an individual in the UK though.

They have been trading for about 5 years , and they are listed on companies house.
They supply to house of frazer.

I am rather confused though because on a site called feefo( and there are a few different links of reviews for this company) there have been 15 new reviews added since 21st November and one says the person was dissapointed because the free international shipping didn't materialize. How could you pay then discover this??!!
    Jealous competitors ?
Here's a press article that confirms about the free returns-dated 19 th november.. -

Following an extremely hectic year at the Little Mistress Headquarters, the young boutique brand attended the prestigious Drapers Fashion Awards 2013 alongside some of the biggest fashion companies in the UK. As the evening proceeded, Little Mistress was lucky enough to win the Young Fashion Brand of the Year award for the second consecutive year.

Over the years Little Mistress has developed a reputation within the fashion industry for providing women with embellished boutique dresses that they can look and feel amazing in. Although the celebrity-inspired brand has won one of the biggest fashion awards this year, they show no signs of slowing down their future business plans with many exciting developments coming in 2014.

The young fashion brand continues to improve their service by listening to their customer’s feedback and being active on their social networks. Most recently, Little Mistress has announced the permanent return of the free returns service to enable customers to buy goods from the ecommerce site with greater peace of mind. With other perks such as student discount and free delivery, it is the hope of Little Mistress that they can score a hat trick at next years Drapers Awards.

I would guess it's the same as a lot of on line shops. The return sticker gives you free standard post return however as recommended for your own security they suggest you upgrade this to tracked. Not all but some post offices will only charge you the extra 80p to add recorded on to the already paid for postage.

goater 78, Coopdivi, unholyangel, hollydays, okydoky25 - thank you all for your answers.

I think I will report them to Advertising Standards, and I'll also try to get the recorded for the extra 80p at the Post Office.

You've all been really helpful (much more than Little Mistress!!)

    Thanks again :)

    Hi all,

And my next question - two of the dresses I bought were in the sale. They will only let me have a credit note for these, rather than refund onto my credit card because they were sale items. However, they don't fit, and if I'd tried them on in a shop I obviously wouldn't have bought them in the first place!

Can they do this? Does anyone know what my rights are and what I can quote back at them?

Thanks again you lovely, clever people :T

    No they can;t.

Tell them you wish to return for a full refund under the distance selling regulations.

I'd also be reporting them to Trading Standards for the lack of compliance with laws (as my post above, no address, contact number, company reg number, not notifying you of your rights under DSRs etc.

As a company in business for years, I find it shocking they still don't know what their obligations as a retailer are. Either that or they just don't care.
