the crossword clue analogy makes no sense to me as it masks whether its innocent texts or texts with some other motive. I know there is protecting people by changing names but changing the story doesn't help IMO, I'm not even sure what the actual problem is0

Sophie will probably carry on doing just as she pleases even though she secretly hopes that some other crossword adict will solve the cryptic clues and let the cat out of the bag.

Does it really matter to you whether Peter and his wife are in your life?
Forget family ties, if you want to see them as friends then don't let anyone bully you into stopping.
If the crossword thing is just as a way of touching base and reminding you they are still 'friends' then maybe it's no bad thing...
Do the kids still see their father, do they see their Aunt and Uncle when they visit their Dad?
