Christmas dinner - Is this really odd?

I hate turkey. We've always had chicken instead... But this year I decided that as we have roast chicken once a month it was boring! So this year I got a pork shoulder...
Why eat what you don't like?We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy! Mortgage Free Wannabe :dance:Overpayments Made: £5400 - Interest Saved: £11,550 - Months Saved: 240 -
Not strange at all....we're not having a big piece of meat this year, hubby wanted duck but duck doesn't agree with my daughter, so hubby is having duck breast and the kids are having quail, with all the trimmings.0

a celebration meal should be whatever you enjoy! Like dresses for brides which will never be worn again what you 'should' eat at Christmas is a recent introduction.0

im on my own so cant justify buying a turkey, nor can I afford one, I still want meat so I buy a couple slices of beef , and pork and turkey, from the deli. I have my carrot swede mash, roasties and sprouts, all in a massive Yorkshire with gravy. those are the things I like, and that's what I have

my dad was allergic to turkey/chicken/pork. We always had turkey but he either had steak or a joint of beef cooked rare - just how he liked it!:jFlylady and proud of it:j0

I would think it more odd if you insisted on having a turkey when you don't like it particularly. It really doesn't matter what anyone else thinks as long as you enjoy it. We love turkey so are having it but I wouldn't if we didn't like it.
We never have traditional Christmas cake as we don't like it and if people think we are odd then so be it.0 -
It's definately odd and the Thought Police will be coming to get you next month to take you away for compulsory Christmas reeducation.
Nope, seems perfectly sane and sensible to me; if a person can't eat what they like at Christmas, when can they eat it? You should do whatever makes you and yours happy and if that's trimmings-sans-turkey or baked potatoes and beans, that's where you should be.
My family defected from the big tasteless bird camp into the beef joint and we've been as happy as larry ever since.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Have whatever you like and don't worry about it. One year, I had a bottle of wine, rice pudding, chocolates, crisps and tomato soup (from a tin) purely because that's what I fancied. This year, I'd quite like something like sausages and mash or crackling pork, but I'm spending Christmas with a friend who prefers chicken, so chicken it is. We'll have an array of roast veg (all done in goose fat
) and copious amounts of champagne - bought on offer through the year

My brother's 2nd little one came out at Christmas a little on the early side with complications so I had fish finger sandwiches that year with my little niece as her Mum, Dad and new baby sister were getting out of hospital. We loved it...
Enjoy the trimmings it sounds lovely xYou can discover more about a person in an hour of play than in a year of conversation.
