Christmas dinner - Is this really odd?

After discussing with Mr Zaxdog about what to make for Christmas dinner we came to a conclusion. The bits we love about the meal are: roast tatties, stuffing, bacon wrapped chipolatas, veggies and gravy
So that is just what we have decided to have. No turkey/roast/joint since it is really expensive and the bit neither of us are madly keen on.
My question is has anyone else done this or is it really strange?

That's usually our Boxing Day lunch.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

Strange in what way?
If that is what you want that is what you should have. No one will be looking through your window.
We have roast at least every other week and we absolutely hate turkey.
So fillet steak it is for us. With trimmings.
And sticky toffee pudding dessert for me! (Rest will have Xmas pud).
That is what we like, that is what we will have!
I know a lot of people who haven't got the traditional for dinner.. in some families it is a new tradition now, going few generations!0 -
Thats normally what myself and ds2 has, but i do a small joint of meat for the carnivores OH and DS1.
Personally just go with what your happy with, its christmas dinner so why not
Its not odd your just creating your own special meal. My friends just cooks some pulled pork. Then they all sit with pulled pork rolls with stuffing, roasties and gravy. For after they sit and scoff christmas cake, they little piece of heaven where they can all relax.0 -
We were just talking about this yesterday and will probably give the turkey a miss too! It's just going to be us and our 4 month old and we're not big turkey lovers either. There will be huge yorkshire puds though! :T:eek:0

your life, your christmas, whats point of eating what everyone else does if you dont eat it?
go enjoy x:A :j0 -
We don't have turkey, not keen on it, and only the two of us. Everyone's christmas is different. I will prob do gammon instead. You'll be making meat anyway, the bacon and chipolatas. Why cook something you'll either waste or not enjoy
