I've re-read that and I still don't think I patronised you (delete obvious joke) but AC have very few people capable of stripping engines and the solution will be a full or short engine to be plopped in (on the minimal diagnosis so far) - neither of which AC are likely to cough up for.

I really don't think you understand how AC has been so rich for so long

I think it is clear I really do ;)

As I said, genuine question re: the finance house taking the OP's side nothing more.

Not suggesting for a second that AC's "specialist trained technicians" are necessarily capable of the work, and as a result no, I wouldn't expect them to cough up for it under normal circumstances, simply because of the 7 month thing.

However, the finance house seems to be on their side. I wondered if that might make a difference.
What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?
