O2 Direct to O2 CPW (e2save)

I'm currently with O2 direct, in month 11

They can't offer a great deal, but E2SAVE (not cpw) can - also on O2.

I understand CPW themselves sell O2 airtime.
Does this mean I can "port" my current o2 direct contract number to O2 CPW (if indeed this is what e2save use).

And presumably I could not with dialaphone (who also have great deals).

Otherwise i'd have to do a double port ie via voda payg or loose the number.

Best bet was vodafone contract (TM/orange out due to general/local coverage issues & 3 [my own favourite net! Xseries rock on!] due to 2G handset wanted), but that was mobilephonesontheweb, and there just isn't enough positive evidence to make me feel comfortable with their cashbacks.

Earlier this month I was in the exact same position, was on O2 and was looking at E2save O2 contract, I rang up 4 times ang got 2 yes you can port between O2 direct and O2 E2save and 2 no you cant anymore, they said people have tried this porting and had lost their number altogether in the process, I couldn't take that chance so never bothered, I just went direct with 3.

CPW actually act as service provider, being responsible for both billing and all customer service issues for O2 contracts purchased from a CPW owned company.

While technically possible to port from O2 to O2 CPW, most dealers (including e2save) do not facilitate migrations as the commission earned is considerably less than for a new connection.

I recently answered a similar question regarding the difference between porting and migration here, which you may find useful.

    Yes, you can.

CPW 02 and O2 both use different billing system so when you get your PAC just port it across. Don't tell them which network it came from (its not necessary and you will get conflicting stories), just give them your PAC, it will transfer across.

I ported from O2 direct to O2 CPW in April - went through no problems, just gave them the PAC.

the transfer will probably take place on your existing SIM card so don't throw it away! The bills just start coming from Carphone Warehouse instead of O2.

I had exactly the same experience porting 2 numbers from O2 direct to O2 CPW with e2save about 7 months ago.

    No problem with the transfer.

    Cheers, Des.
  • It is possible for e2save to transfer the number from o2 direct to o2 cpw. This is done as a migration and as jimclark1967 has already advised the new contract is transferred onto your old sim rather than the number being porting onto your new contract.

It is very important that this is requested with the sales advisor at point of sales as it is not possible to transfer the number after the line has been connected.

Your old contract will stay active for the next 7-10 days and our mobile number porting team can advise you of the exact date the number is due to transfer across. When the old contract disconnects your new contract automatically activates on the old sim card with your existing number. This means you will only ever be paying for one contract at a time.

Rebecca, thanks for clearing that up, but E2save lost me as a potential customer because 2 out of 4 of your telephone "advisors" told me it was no longer possible to transfer between them as some that had tried had lost their number altogether.
Maybe you all need to be singing off the same hymnsheet:D
