You Sky+ box will revert to being a dumb Freesat from Sky receiver (leave your old card in the box).
You will not be able to view any previous recordings or record any new ones.
The way round it is to either pay Sky £10.25/month for the Sky+ facilities to be retained or to swop out your Sky box for a Freesat PVR with similar functionality.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -

I just gave my 31 days notice a few days ago.
From what I've read and its prob worth a try, if you take your card out day before switch off, and leave it out for 3 or 6 months, then put it back in, you will be able to do all the sky+ (playback/record) stuff. AFAIK your existing subscription channels will have expired so you may not have access to them. The 3-6 month is to avoid the kill signal that gets sent to prevent your card from sky+ features.0 -

Sky no longer send a 'kill signal' to their boxes. They send a 'keep alive' one. So there is no way around it.0 -
The remove the card 'trick' has never worked with white cards (although there is some evidence it used to work with blue, yellow house cards).Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hi Heinz, how do you get Sky to agree to that £10.25 a month thing for retention of Sky+?? I tried but they said no....0

It depends on the call centre person you speak to. There is quite a variety in the offers made to people transferring from O2.0
