I think I have said it's hard for "normal" people earning "normal wages" to save such sums, hence it would be better long term if we let house prices correct to a natural level. That would be the level that prices held their own through a combination of supply and true affordability.
I've never though, said it's impossible for people to save?
Are you having a laugh I can't be bothered to go through all your old posts to find them.
Are you now conceding that people could save the deposit if they tried.0 -

OK, wasn't having a laugh no. Just that you are stating I have said something which I haven't, which is kind of annoying.
Seems you won't back up what you have said about me, but also won't answer the question on how this helps people?
Maybe we could get back to your assertion this helps people and explore that, rather than making things up?0 -

Are you saying that you have never complained about how hard it is to save perhaps and that most people can't you might not have actually said impossible. You have made over 44000 posts do you really think I've the time to go through all of those.0 -
Could be the same as me stating its impossible for me to buy due to my year of birth, when what I actually said was it was much harder.
It does seem many posts are taken a little further than what you say and then deemed to be what you said.Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017

It gets them the house quicker....but apart from that?
Why does there need to be an 'apart from that'?
If someone is renting then HTB1 dramatically reduces the time spent paying a landlords mortgage and ensures a new house is built to house then sooner rather than later. I would have thought you approve of both a) a reduction in monies being passed to landlords b) more new houses.
Of course both HTB1 and HTB2 have a political element to them as well - anyone would be naive in the extreme to think otherwise. It's not news to point this out.
When do you move into yours?0 -

It helps people by reducing the amount they need to save I would have thought that was obvious.0 -

I've always interpreted your posts as implying that it's as good as impossible for normal people to save. Can't speak for anyone else but I don't think I'm alone in this.
Some attempts at rewriting history going on recently. First the revelation that you don't have a problem with HTB1 and now saying it's possible for people to save.0 -

Actually, you used the term "priced out".
For about 2 years.
Despite saving the grand some of 15 pence during those 2 years. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
It helps people by reducing the amount they need to save I would have thought that was obvious.
The main reason WHY we had one of the most serious crashes in history was because people were borrowing to much and banks were taking on too much risk.
By requiring people to input more of there own money,
1. this reduces the risk to the banks
2. reduces the risk to the tax payer
3. ensures that people who have the financial discipline to save up 15% of a deposit for a house are less likely to default0 -

I was priced out for a good few years, its only due to raising my income above local averages, finding somebody to buy with and prices reducing 25% I was no longer priced out.Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017
