A leak from somewhere in the roof it seems.

We're in town tomorrow...
The roofer said we should get some anti fungal stuff put on the wall because there's black spots & he says this will come through the wallpaper if untreated.
Recommended product?
There was also another product he said that should also be put on the wall, but i can't remember if it was before/after the anti fungal or even what type of product it was. Any idea what it may be? Sorry for the lack of info on that one.0 -
Interesting conversation with the neighbour today (wink to plumb1
).
Apparently the previous owners approached our neighbours 6 months prior to sale to ask if they had bother with their joining wall. Neighbours say they didn't have the problem so the leak would've been totally on our side.
This ties in with where the roofer pointed out the slate, which is just ever so slightly on our side of the divide (if i was looking at the correct slate that is).
So, the problem was actually quite a recent one. I guess this also ties in with the wet patch being so dark, but now the wallpaper has been off for a couple of week it's fading quite well.
The wallpaper around the beam still feels either cold or damp i'm not sure. I've got the dehumidifier in there.
Wondering if we could get away with white-painting the yellow staining on the ceiling wallpaper as i don't fancy wallpapering the whole thing. Have never wallpapered anything in my life, nevermind a funny shaped ceiling.0 -

But since i can't get up there, asking him to take photos for myself at least is a good idea.
You might consider asking him to take photos from the roof too - it's amazing what you can see in the distance! The chap who did work on roof at our old home was a friend, so he took my camera up and took photos - lovely view of Liverpool Cathedral from our roof! :j Admittedly you can see it from the bedroom windows too, but it was fascinating to see it from a different viewpoint!0 -

About time, and they never left any teeth marks:D0 -
I wondered about this one...
If you have a look at the opening post, then the photo where the roof kind of slopes down, you can see the white paper discoloured to yellow (out of interest, why does the wetness turn it yellow & not brown or whatever?)
Anyway, since we've had a roofer out & he's said that it's an old problem that's been repaired, would you still remove the paper on the ceiling or will this dry out naturally itself over time?
The wall has gone very very light now as it's drying. The ceiling in that point still feels damp. Would rather avoid having to paper the ceiling if we could, especially since neither of us has papered a straight wall, never mind one with odd shapes on a ceiling.
Just wondered if this is likely to dry out itself over time or whether the paper will stop that from ever happening.0
