  • Right i'm going to go ahead & be dim now...

How does that differ to what we have?

I see it's purple & i see it LOOKS like it sits higher up/closer to the slate.

The purple comment i'm just messing, but is it being higher up the only difference? Or is there something i'm missing?

nice overlapping lead on the fascia the full width of the hopper, yours has vitually no lead there. Is the fascia UPVC, looks like it has been done and the fitter has just screwed it on over the top of the lead, or cut the lead off to make it fit.

I can't tell sorry. I think it'd wood, but i could very easily be wrong.

I wouldn't worry about posting more photos. The only way to tell what's going on is to get a builder / roofer in and get up there and have a look. The longer you leave it, the worse the damp will get and the further into winter, the harder the job becomes.

I know. I've left contact with a roofer, so in the meantime i'm good to discuss here :)

    Your privilege ! but be aware that when you get the roofer round and he has been up and had a look, you will find that what you have got up there bears no relationship to the foregoing discussion. You are doubtless the owner of a bodged up roof job but the nature of the perpetration is total surmise until a tradesman has eyeballed it.;

PS ask the roofer to take your camera up with him and post some pic's of what he finds.

    I don't disagree with you.

But discussing here is free & harms nobody. I wont act on the pointers in this thread, i'll act on a professionals advice so again, no harm done.

Not sure whether you're taking the piddle or not.

But since i can't get up there, asking him to take photos for myself at least is a good idea.

    You're getting there !

If you have some shots of the problem area the roofer can show you the problem and talk you through the repair

  • Got a couple decent shots with a better camera.

When looking in daylight it seems the wiring shouldn't be an issue. Tracing where they all go, none of them should lead water into the house. My guess at this moment in time is still the lead flashing as it differs to everyone elses on the street.

    Here's ours...

And here's a typical example from another house on the street (all other houses on the street are basically like this one)...

The wife is worried/paranoid that the neighbour will have the same issue as we do & that if/when discussing it with them they will blame us for it & say it is our fault & we need to pay for their repair. I say that this is silly, but she's still concerned about it.
