The demise of the Remoska cooker.

  • My beloved Remoska has just died - this is the third one I've had, over a number of years. Lakeland replaced the first two quickly and with no fuss when they developed an electrical fault (which seems to be a 'feature' of the Remoska).

This time they have offered me a full refund of the price I paid (£99.99), or I can have the new version if I pay the difference of £70. I agree that £169.99 is way too much for the cooker itself, but the Lakeland guarantee must be worth a lot - they are absolutely brilliant when it comes to replacing or refunding no matter how long ago you bought the item. I've been tempted to take the refund and try the Tefal Roast and Bake, but the guarantee is only 12 months, or three years if you pay extra. If it goes wrong after that, I wouldn't get anything back, whereas I could get the full amount back if I stick with Lakeland... still not quite sure what I'll do.

I stopped using my Remoska, frying pan quicker, then bought a Tefal cook and bake or something similar. Then gave up fat and oil and now use a new Halogen oven, which is not an oven, more of a glass bowl with heating fan assisted hood over the top.
Had it six months, so far so good.

I have had mine for 3 years and use it almost daily. It took a few weeks to adapt my recipes but would not be without it.
  • I love my remoska which died this week. Lakeland have offered to replace it with the new version and because they have been upgraded and are more expensive I will have to pay the difference between what I paid and the price of the current version. I am happy to do thar but wondered if anyone has the new version and for those of us who use ours a lot is it really better?
    thank you:)
  • Have just come back from Lakeland with my new Grand Remoska. Paid £40 as mine originally cost £129.99. It looks really neat, there's a more stable base, the lid has a stand opposite the handle that's a definite improvement and the pan seems more substantial. No window in the lid - I'll reserve judgement on this until I've made a yorkshire pud!
Didn't buy a new recipe book - does anyone know if this is necessary?
am a happy bunny to have it as I've been lost without mine.
  • Just got a new Grand Remoska which has lasted 3 days and is now dead!! No power light although it did briefly warm up and them got cold. Not impressed.

I threw mine out, far too hot for safety. I do much better with my controllable induction hob and heavy stainless steel pans. I can set the hob ring on a timer. I have had three remoskas in the past. Would never buy another

I bought the standard size new incarnation a few months ago and find it really useful, but having been poorly have not adapted a vast array of recipes yet, but will be doing so and am loving those that I have made.

OP Lakeland have a great reputation for dealing with problems, hope you get a replacement soon.

I really like mine - I have two. I was given the grande as a gift about 10 years ago, and I bought the standard one from a charity sale about a year ago. Whilst I admit they get treacherously hot, and are probably not a good idea if you have small children or grandchildren around, or if you have arthritic hands etc etc - I still love mine. Best roast potatoes ever, and it cooks chicken beautifully.
  • I too love my 'moska and it even goes on our family holiday with us as its handy with a big family as an extra 'cooker' I certainly wouldn't be without mine and use it almost daily.Only put my big oven on about once a fortnight for marathon baking sessions :)I have had two and am really pleased with it.being on my worktop at waist height helps me as well so I don't have to bend down too much (old age is creeping up )
