If it freezes and you HAVE NOT installed any apps then take it back - if you have installed any apps - do the factory reset and try it again - if it still freezes then take it back.

    Will do thanks everyone.
    Stop looking for answers....
The most you can hope for are clues.....:)
  • Thanks for the advice - we've had the same problem with it freezing. At least we know it's not just us struggling to use it (reduces the paranoia lol).

It works ok for about 10 mins then either the keyboard freezes up or it just generally stops (can't even shut it down). We spoke to the Tesco tech helpline and removed the four apps we had downloaded (two simple games from CBEEBIES and two from google play) and did a hard factory restart. We don't use fb or twitter etc and hadn't even got around to setting up email as it was such a pain to use - grrrr.

Very disappointed as it just seems to be more hard work to use than it really should be.

Have a feeling that it may be a battle to get it replaced. When my DH spoke to a lady in the Tesco store she implied that it won't be replaced but just sent away for repair.....

Sometimes all they do is a 'factory reset' , something which you can do yourself

I suggest you call the help line again, they are well aware that there are issues with screens freezing - I have now had two with this problem. The first one was collected and replaced with a new one by courier, but when I rang yesterday to report that the second one has the same problem they advised that they are now issuing a returns number for in-store replacement (although I'll be asking for a refund this time, as I'm not confident that a third Hudl won't have problems too).
  • We have two hurdles both show signs of freezing sporadically and both have been reset to then waste time reloading apps for them both to continue freezing. We have been told by tech guy in supermarket they are launching a patch to upload as there is a fault due to rushing them out and software needs update. IF NO UPDATE within 14 days will be getting refunds for both of them.

I had this problem happening all the time.
In my case it appears to have been a lack of memory which stopped the screen being sensitive.
I installed a cheap 8gb micro sd (£3.66 off amazon) and I have not had any problems since.
If you have an sd in your phone for example, you may want to try putting it in the HUDL to see if it helps before splashing out on a new sd.

Also, although you might appear to close some apps, they are still running in the background. You can see what apps are running by tapping the double rectangle icon and then swipe them down off the screen to close them.

There are apps that may help with battery and also apps running in the background . But stuff like Startup Manager and Greenify will require a rooted phone .
  • It's a software bug - Tesco say they're working on a fix that's due 'soon' (in the next month or two).
