  • Hello if anyone is out there

I'm still going strong and am an active member of the pay your debts of by Xmas 2014 challenge although I won't be debt free by Xmas 2014 I think I will still have £6,000 to pay, which is a massive improvement on 18 months ago.:D

Current position is that I have managed to pay off £9,378.30 so far this year. All my veggies are growing nicely in the garden and I should be able to start using them shortly.:)

My job is really busy so I only post at the weekends or when I have a day off (like today). I'm trying to help my eldest son get a job over the Summer as he is off college now until September, but jobs are very scarce in the area I live and it is a shame because he really wants to work and is already very well qualified and skilled.:)

I'm not going to lose my way this late in the year and hope now to exceed my target of paying of £12,600 this year even though this is 50% of my salary. I have not bought any clothes or shoes (except for the kids), no takeaways (just the odd meal out for special occasions) and I make a lot of veggie meals as they work out so much cheaper than with meat. It's all working and I'm still staying positive.:)

    All the best.

  • Hello

Still clearing debts and pleased I am getting close to the target I set myself this year. Have now paid £11.052.64 of the £12,600 target. I am still hoping to exceed the target and clear another £2,000 before the end of the year.
    :D
It hasn't been without its' difficulties - spending over half my household income on clearing debts has meant no holidays, not much eating out and no clothes or shoes for the year, but if I can manage this for a full two years I will only have the 2 mortgages left and I've made it through 8 months so far.

    Have a good weekend.

  • Hello

I can't believe I haven't posted on my own diary since August - I have been posting on the Pay your debt off by Xmas 14 challenge and the grand total I have paid off so far this year is £13,466.42 and I still have one more pay day this year to clear some more.
    :D
I've managed to transfer all remaining credit card debt onto one card which is 0% for 34 months so I am going to pay off in 34 equal instalments and in the meantime finally build up a little savings reserve - at present I only have just over £280 to my name for any disasters.

Best of luck to everyone in your quest to be debt free. I am going to keep working on mine in 2015 and as soon as the new Pay your debt off by Xmas challenge is set up I will declare a debt amount to pay off.

  • Hello

My last post of 2014 diary as I have no more payments due this month. Since Jan 2013 I have paid over £22,000 off my debts and am still working towards being completely debt free in 10 years (ie by 31.12.22).

    2015 Financial Goals
    Pay £10,400 off my debt.
Save £4,000 to help pay my second mortgage when the fixed rate ends in June 2017. (I need to save an extra £10,000 by June 2017) - this is going to be a really tough challenge!!

    2015 Personal Goals
Try not to work as many hours - my company doesn't pay overtime so it doesn't make any gains for me financially.
Spend as much time as possible with the kids.
Keep in touch with my friends more.
Keep active as my desk job is starting to seize up my body.

Have a lovely remainder of Christmas to anyone reading and keep going on your debt busting in 2015.:j
