Seriously, cancelling a contract with Three is a nightmare.
I have an iphone 5 out with them and a 3gs, my 3gs is up and I want to give my 30 days notice, I tell them the 5 has unlimited everything so I no longer need the 3gs yet they offer offer offer ! I know companies have to have some kind of retention in place but why don't they take no as an answer.

Make about 2 offers then cancel, I would call that fair.
It took 12 minutes to cancel one number, which was ok.

However when my partner cancelled it took 40 minutes and she spoke to 4 people, one claiming to be a manager, she also tried to cancel the same contract last week but they would not take no for an answer so she had to give in and called back today.

Are there any regulations against this ?
It seems impossible almost to give your 30 days notice.

haha they are, I feel for the people who work in those call centre's however.

If they don't try they will get blasted for it, and I'm guessing in India, there is no CAB to contact or Tribunal for unfair dismisal, don't do what we say or your out, not as if they have a social safety net like here in UK.

    It's called customer retention.

They can be tenacious, but so can you. If you cannot cope with speaking to people on the phone and insisting, WRITE giving formal notice.

As to those who do phone - there's no need to negotiate, be pleasant but after every response that doesn't lead to your cancellation, simply repeat the request - no variation, no discussion until they supply the confirmation you need.
  • Buzby is right but also don't forget to cancel the direct debit at your bank - that will bring things to a halt very quickly.
And if you bank online then you can do that at home and it will take effect the next working day.

I know, like I said I don't mind 1 or 2 offers, companies gotta do what they gotta do, I think I said, "no just cancel please" about 25 times ! haha
I know next time to just write in, if they call I can refuse to talk knowing they have my notice !
