Looking for car that will last!

We have had three Jazz's in the family and no problems at all with any of them. 45 mpg and very versatile accommodation. Very cheap to run.Je suis sabot...0

Some great suggestions here.
- Keep the current car, some taxi drivers run Octavias well into the half million mile mark.
- Another Skoda - new Octavia is nice, the Superb has had a facelift so pre-facelift models are a bit cheaper - lot of car for the money, dual hatch/saloon boot arrangement is practical and still looks executive. The Rapid can be had at a good price, is a similar size to the last Octavia.
- Another VW group product - if you liked the Octavia, have a look at Seat Leon (we got one of these, cracking car, looks a bit Alfa Romeo-like) / Toledo (same as Rapid), Exeo (like an A4) or VW Golf / Jetta
- Honda - my last car was an Accord coupe and was probably the best car I've owned. Civic is probably Octavia sized now, the Accord is gorgeous but pricey. They should be reliable.
- Toyota - Avensis is a big seller this side of the Irish sea, for good reason. Much overlooked good car. Auris also nice.
- Mazda - the '6' is a gorgeous car, almost Jag-like in execution. The outgoing 3 can be had as a bargain if you can live with the smiley face grille.
- Hyundai - have been hearing good reports from fleet drivers about the i40
- Kia - the Optima is similar to the above i40, but in my opinion is the better looking of the two
- Volvo - V40 and S60 are comfortable and well built0
