OP I am sure you could get a job in admin, as for the grammar police here, I have opened many official letters with glaring spelling and grammatical errors in them.0

It's not about grammar, we're not talking about the occasional rogue apostrophe here, we're talking about using the wrong words.0 -

Well that comes down to vocabulary rather than grammar, not everyone has a thesaurus in the workplace.0 -

The OP has now left the WP so he will have to ask the JC at his next appointment. I know the refer people to Learn Direct as I had a group meeting with them where they patronisingly told us all it was a benefit to have level 1 in Maths and English. Not even taking in to account some of us has A grades in O Levels and A Levels too.Going4TheDream wrote: »Thanks for confirming, I was sure it was still offered free if you met the criteria, as I imagine the OP wouldWe’ve had to remove your signature. An entry level admin job probably wouldn't involve writing letters to customers if it did there would probably be on a template and just fill in the name and address. He could probably handle filing, data entry, photocopying etc. when I worked in admin some of the staff had terrible spelling and grammar and the administrator at my current employment makes lots of errors in written work which looks very unprofessional imo she is a very intelligent lady too and managers seem happy enough with her work.:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0

Could be accent to though? or local speak
Here in North Essex/Suffolk border for instance, always ripples me when people say I shoed him around instead of I showed him around when their talking! : )
Plus there was the boss that typed so fast she used to make all the cringeworthy typo's BUT very good at what she did
See what I mean, would never dream of picking anyone up for it, I go all weak at the knee's when I hear a true Essex mixed with a bit of cockney accent!
anyway enough of my little fetish! 0 -

Yes that is where outsourcing inevitably leads.....:)Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0 -

The OP asked a question. We can only respond on the basis of how he expresses himself. It may be the case that in a working environment the OP could write grammatically correct English that was sufficient for the employer's purposes. But it is a fair point to make that, if he uses the same style in his application as he has done on here, these things could count against him.
I sometimes adopt informal practices on here, I may not correct a spelling mistake I made, ignore apostrophes etc. It may be that this is what the OP is doing. However, if he thinks there is nothing wrong with his use of English he is kidding himself and I do not think its being a grammar policeman to point this out.Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0
