Admin Jobs

Just wondering if anyone can answer this question for me?
I would love a admin Job but I don't have much experience in admin but I done a work placement at United Press typing poems on to a pc but should I apply for admin Jobs if I see any on Universal Jobmatch? reason why I ask is because I have been told that I need to do any Jobs that I can do as I can't be fussy.
It also states it on the letter what I got on Friday when I signed on, the letter is: (PWPS Jobsearch Review - Welcome Back Script)
And it states at the bottom the following: You must be willing to take up any work that you are capable of doing, unless otherwise agreed with your adviser.
So should I apply for admin Jobs as well? because at the moment I am looking for these: Packer, Warehouse, Factory, Shop assistant/retail and Cleaner.

Don't see why you can't apply for admin assistant. You will learn on the job you could also do some reading up and practice admin skills yourself it's not difficult to self learn.:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0

Based on your forum posts I would say that your typing and written English isn't up to an admin job. There's bound to be something out there that matches your skills but maybe admin isn't for you.0

You have asked this sort of question before, the reply is still the same.
Apply for anything and everything.
If you are not suitable or don't have the relative skills/experience you won't get it but at least you tried and won't be sanctioned for not applying to enough jobs.
You never know you might get an admin job and be brilliant at it!0 -

You may want to look at that sentence there. We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Not trying to be cruel but here are a few corrections that might help you understand the criticism you are questioning from a previous poster:
An admin job
Did a work placement
The reason I ask
Letter that I got on Friday
Sorry I have no idea how to do the corrections in the quote!0 -

Only an idiot thinks people type in the exact same English on a forum and on the job. Mannerism, choice of typing u instead of you for example, and certain bad habits you see on the internet are often not displayed in a paid job. I've seen Ph.Ds who talks really posh in real life but types like a chav online. And yes I also know someone who works for McDonald's, is a high school dropout, always types using post-modern English online with the odd Latin to make himself appear like an educated professional.0 -

That is a bit unfair, I worked in admin, I actually had a good well paid job. Not that anyone would know it from how I am / type on here. I am in my own home, relaxing, how I come across on a internet forum is quite different to how I carried out my job whilst in an office environment.0 -

Read up on job descriptions on job sites and see what different roles entail and what skills they are looking for. Think about what you have done in the past and what transferable skills you have.
I believe that they still do the European Driving licence at colleges, as a free course, to learn pc skills. Its something that you can put on your CV as a recognised qualification that tells employers your pc skills are at a certain level
Practice your typing skills and pc skills by using an on-line tutor, learn how to use spell checking/grammar functions. Very few admin jobs these days involve typing large documents all day long so you don't have to be a speed typist but accuracy will be expected.
Administration is a very broad field, starting with perhaps admin assistants, going up to Office Managers, each role requiring different skill sets and experience.
If you have little experience, perhaps an admin assistant role may be a starting point. Being flexible is also important in most roles today, and skills such as being able to organise and manage work load are just as important as being able to perhaps type, along with common sense and initiative. So think about what you have done in the past, and examples of how you can demonstrate those qualities.Dont wait for your boat to come in 'Swim out and meet the bloody thing'0
