Help, I've superglued a mug to the kitchen worktop.

Yes, I'm an idiot. Having briefly considered putting newspaper down and deciding it was uneccessary, the inevitable has happened and my mug of tea is now firmly attached.
No idea what the worktop is made of, just the standard whatever from 15 years ago. Any ideas that won't damage the work surface?

All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

How much of the mug is actually glued? Can you get to the glue spot? You could try softening the glue with acetone, apply with a cotton bud and gently keep scraping at it with a blunt knife.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

I remember you could get a tube of superglue desolver or try nail varnish remover that has acetone in it

I think Loctite do a small tube of superglue remover 5g for about £3.
Don't know if it works or not but try white spirit?0 -
How much are you attached to the mug? (as opposed to the mug attached to the surface)
Big hammer break mug off the glue then carefully remove the remaining glue using relevant solvents.I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.0 -
fill it with soil and stick a plant in it.0

Firstly I would like to apologise, but I will admit to a little chuckle when I read your title/post, only because its something I would do myself, glad I am not the only one.
I would try white spirit on cotton wool, soak the cotton wool and wrap it around the mug and leave it so the white spirit soaks underneath the cup.
Before you do this though I would recommend that you test the effect of white spirit (or whatever you decide to use) on an area of your work surface that wont be seen first.0 -
Not sure if it will work on superglue but I am a big fan of this stuff:
