My mum (77) has a TalkTalk home/broadband package but is not on the internet.
When we visit her my daughter wants to use her iPad. Can I set up using any router or do I have to have a TalkTalk one? I have asked TalkTalk for a router but they want £50.

Simple answer - yes, as long as you choose a "phone line" version as opposed to a "cable" one
This assumes that you are not on a cable phone/TV package ...
I would stick to known brands - such as Netgear or Belkin and make sure that you specify "WIRELESS"0 -
Broadband but not on the internet ??
Does that mean she has a TT modem or TT Modem/ router .
A router only routes the signal . A modem receives the signal .
Router with no modem = no signal .
Add a router to an existing modem = signal .
Guess would be that part of the broadband package subscribed to would have included a TT combined modem and router .0 -
Thank you both for your help.
She is not on a TV package thank goodness but after a 3way conversation with Mum and TalkTalk to reduce costs, they phoned her back and talked her into this phone/broadband again. Have they no shame?OMG Do I need a life laundry! :j0
