RAC refused to help breakdown because they had dogs inside the vehicle

Walking to and from the motorhome door repeatedly puts the humans at unnecessary risk.
okay,so why were the humans in the motorhome?0 -
Why,The RAC and lorry driver took a pasting
from the off I had said I wouldn't have positioned the vehicle as they did
Am I only allowed to comment as long as it follows your line of thought?
If people were still banging on about the RAC being mean I'd have an issue with that too, but I think people have calmed down and realised they jumped the gun a bit.
You're allowed to say whatever you want of course, that doesn't mean its always a good idea or the right thing to do. Of course, the concept of keeping your thoughts to yourself if they might upset or hurt somebody needlessly is a bit old fashioned now.0 -

There was risk inherent in driving on the motorway with 12 dogs in a large vehicle, I suppose, but I'm pretty sure its now clear that they did the right thing by leaving them in their secure crates in the motorhome.Person_one wrote: »If people were still banging on about the RAC being mean I'd have an issue with that too, but I think people have calmed down and realised they jumped the gun a bit.

So just let you make a statement for all then?0 -

You know, if they'd taken the dogs onto the hard shoulder, or a couple of feet into that overgrown brushy bit of grass verge, people would be saying they were wrong to do that. Probably all the same people who are saying they were wrong to leave them where they were!0 -

Judging by the second photo here - https://caninechronicle.com/breaking-news/lisa-croft-elliot-and-carrie-russell-smith-survive-devastating-car-accident/ -
there was a grassy area beside the vehicle.0 -
Yep, looks like a couple of feet.0

a couple of feet?
The camper is way up the verge with enough room to park another camper by its side and still not be on the hard shoulder0 -
We all think yes of course we would stand in the rain or snow, freezing cold for hours to be safe, but would we all in reality? They waited over 3 hours. For all we know they could have stood for 2 hours 45 minutes getting wetter and wetter and colder and colder and thought we will risk sitting in the vehicle for a short while to try and warm up and dry out a bit and lo and behold a lorry hits them.
What if it were a woman on her own? Is she meant to stand on the embankment for 3 hours freezing and wet with the added threat of maybe being attacked?
Recovery services don't operate like superman. You have to wait. You know you will have to wait. You plan for that eventuality, & pack the following easily accessible your vehicle.
Jumper
Waterproof coat
High vis vest
Umbrella
Torch
Charged mobile
[Attacked, on the side of a major motorway whilst waiting for a recovery vehicle. Really? Ok, hit them with your umbrella, and/or large torch, and call the police on your mobile, whilst waving your high vis jacket at passing motorists]0 -

Or...get in your vehicle and lock the doors until they go away or the police arrive, as the government advice tells you to.
Why do so many people not care about the official rules/advice?0
