The OP will be back when the Dyson breaks.

    Oh I hope it does.

And I hope they get a repair.

And I hope it takes 6 weeks.

You can't please everyone as customer service is a subjective area.

Op went into currys with a very clear outcome in mind.
Currys directed OP to VAX as they would replace it.
OP not happy so Currys phoned Vax in store on behalf of customer.
    VAX issuing a replacement.

OP was always going to be disappointed because they went into store with a outcome and came away without that outcome, the store could of offered tea, coffee and biscuits and been nice as pie and the OP would still be disappointed.

As the majority of people here are reasonable, the consensus is that you were dealt fairly and you were being unreasonable/unfair.

Anyway as a sidenote the burning smell is likely to be the motor or the fan and can be caused by the brushes being caught in a rug tassels or other materials.
  • Dealing directly with a manufacturer is often far easier and quicker than dealing with the retailer who sold you the goods.

However it may also terminate your statutory rights, so could be a very bad idea.

Best to always deal with the retailer only.
  • Maybe it would have been better if I had stated that it's often better dealing with the manufacturer after consulting with the retailer as with the case in question.
The manufacturer will be providing a remedy to the problem but on behalf of the retailer so there shouldn't be any loss of statutory rights.

I hate Currys but their action was correct and fair.

Vax are great. You just had a faulty one, so give the new one a chance and stop being daft!

We have not been impressed with the build quality of our Dyson.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
