New front door and back door

Hi all
Had a safe style guy in to quote for a composite front door with small side window and a back upvc door. Both white.
I've been quoted £2,200. This seems high to me. I've compared to tesco though and the prices are similar, if not better which really surprises me.
I used a local company for my windows and had a bad experience so I'd rather go for a more established and known company (albeit more expensive).
Any thoughts much appreciated.

...tesco
While it doesn't surprise me that Tesco sell doors I'd hardly call them established in that department.
From a quick look on the Tesco site it looks like they use http://www.zenithhome.co.uk/doors/
You may get a better deal by removing Tesco's slice of the profit and going direct.I used a local company for my windows and had a bad experience so I'd rather go for a more established and known company
Better customer service.Had a safe style guy in to quote
For my first door I used http://www.valuedoorsuk.co.uk/ and I've had no problems.
For my other 2 doors I used a local company. If I ever decide to get some windows replaced they'll be the first ones I contact.0 -
I Have been quoted £799 for a standard composite front door and £920 with the most expensive lead glass. The back door should be cheaper, so your quote is a bit on the high side depending on what doors your having0

Yes, sorry when I say established I mean unlikely to go bust in 10 years time.
Thanks for your views. Confirmed what I thought. I had a call yesterday saying they might be able to offer a better deal. I apparently have the cost manager calling me tomorrow. They were pestering to come round yesterday again for another look as they were in the area. In the area, of course they are.
Talk about persistent. I think with the figures jcb208 is quoted, I'll only go for it if they bring it down at least 20%.0 -
690 for composites up north without any discounts0

try Anglian home improvements, they will beat safestyle price0

It amazes me that anybody would consider buying Safestyle windows and/or doors - do a search for that name before signing up.0

Greatgimpo thanks for your post. As a result I did more looking and found safestyle exclude all negative feedback on their website. Seen some awful reports.I have booked an appointment to go with SS as they dropped their price to under £2k but I'm now going to cancel.0

True, but I have had it with them. Their high pressure sales tactics have got to me. I called to cancel today and I've been told I have to wait until the sales guy calls me tomorrow to confirm the appointment, to cancel it!! No doubt to try to convince me to keep it or just turn up.
Ridiculous and the final straw!0 -

We had them yesterday, signed up for two windows, the usual crap, higher price, reduce price, call the job in, reduce further. We thought it over last night and have cancelled by email.Loved our trip to the West Coast USA. Death Valley is the place to go!0
