But a parking chimp would.
Seriously? it's pretty obvious the question and scenarios are based around car parks with cameras and not actually manned.Great idea - Velcro the plates. Then some chav decides to borrow them for his fluffy diced Saxo - !!!!!! :rotfl:
yeah. Because they walk round looking for number plates to see how they're attached.

number plates don't have to be screwed on.I'm glad I've got better things to do
From the quality of your posts on this thread, I'm guessing it's colouring in and finger painting.0 -

Where exactly in the original post does it actually mention cameras? Here's a reminder for you.Is it illegal to remove number plate in a private car park whilst you shop? They can't lookup your reg then if you took them off? And as it's private property, they can't clamp or tow you right?
In fact if the OP is talking about clamping and towing, then cameras are the last things to be linked to that activity.
How nice of you to post such derogatory remarks about me. You don't know me, I've never noticed you on this forum previously, perhaps you'll come on and put your back into helping people in trouble - like those of us who are doing that day in, day out. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Cant get "i need a hero" by bonnie tyler outta my head now.:rotfl:0 -
Not forgetting of course the police can still nick you in a shop car park!
Up to £1000 for no or illegal number plates!0 -
Nope, but I don't think any of us are advocating going out there looking to deliberately avoid a parking charge by taking unusual actions (apart from those looking to test out the whole process like Parking Prankster, Lynnzer on PePiPoo and a few others).
I'm all for helping those who inadvertently pick up a charge, but for what reason would anyone want to be taking a screwdriver out and get on their hands and knees and scrabble around unscrewing back and front number plates, then to do the reverse when they come to move their car?
I'm baffled to understand
Screwdriver? No double sided velcro tape. You just stick them on or off.0 -
It's a civil matter they, I have no respect for money earning firms making a living off every day people.
If the council issue me a ticket or a fine, if a police officer says I'm doing wrong, that's a different story, I respect the law. I don't respect this private parking firm !!!!!!!!.
Who gave them the right to put up a plastic sign, snap some number plates, and send fines out on private property. God, I've got 20 cars parked at my house, remind me to fine my customers when they stay too long. That's real good for business. In fact, parking companies damage the areas reputation as it makes people think twice about going there.0 -

The law: http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1994/22/section/42
If the registration mark (numberplate to you and me) is not fixed to the vehicle then either the driver or the keeper is guilty of an offence. It doesn't say anything about "a road or other public place", which means that the offence is committed wherever the vehicle is.
An ultra-literal reading would actually make it illegal for a bodyshop to remove the numberplate while carrying out repairs. I don't think that can have been the intention and I assume that a certain amount of common sense would apply in that situation - but I doubt whether a common sense exception would extend to taking your numberplate off so that you could abuse a private car park.0 -

Is that because it's a public place?
Yes.
Like you see on TV the chavs screaming around a car park and then getting most upset when they get nicked.0
