    I got the same "We are unable" message with both TSB and BoS online, so I would assume so. No problem phoning them up and requesting them however.
    Hi, Did my last, 3rd BOS online Friday, and put a £1 test in it, an hour later.Just topped it up to £5k.
    Via Halifax IB.

    In a way, you're right - so long as they're open when i finish work.

    It's just a bit of a nuisance really. I know many on MSE don't seem to mind hitting the phones. I prefer not to & prefer to do it online when possible (for anything). Online application is done within 5 minutes, over the phone takes much much longer. I know that now i've said that someone will pop in & say "i completed my application over the phone in 2 minutes 15 seconds", but from personal experience it does take quite a while which is a bit annoying. They ask you do you want this, do you want that, reel off the T&Cs which you try & stay awake through, ask you more questions, some may ask how your day is (sorry for being miserable but i just want to open an account & be on my way). The last thing i want when i finish work is a 30-45 minute phone call for something that could be done within 5 online.

    If it,s still available, you will need a scottish postcode, to use as a local branch;
    Try this, I,ve used it twice, with success,it was given to me by Claire 07, on here, (thanks again)
    EH1 2PH. It,s at the end of the online form.Unless you reside in Scotland?
    without a post code, it won,t let you procceed, and BOS don,t have branches in England,( So they told me).
    I had to do my first one on the phone, because of it.and it took ages.
    Best of luck:)
  • Yeah that was the irritating thing i found at the end of my application & later found out there's no branch in England.

    I did a google search of an Edinburgh BOS & just selected that post code & finished the application.

    It was only then, rather annoyingly, that i realised there's a BOS in my wifes hometown (in Scotland) which i probably should've selected since we go there x-times during the year.

    As long as you got sorted.
    The computer would NOT accept a Glasgow sort code the bloke on the phone gave me,or my wifes ex postcode,Ayr, also Scottish,so he did the first on the phone
    It was Claire 07,s postcode that worked for me, for 2nd and 3rd A/cs.
    Rather a hit and miss affair.
    I still cannot get online to Lloyds, and use the new activation code;
    Techie problems is all I get, so do it via phone banking.Computer says NO, so does call centre.
    TSB is another story.Just activated first and applied for 2 more, via IB;
    6 weeks ago I started these.Hopefully they should go smooth:-)
    Nothing like wishful thinking.
    Don,t really know why I bothered.
    Good job I don,t rely on this cash and IB.
    1.5% perhaps :-)
