Just adding to a previous thread Sooby-Lou 19-05-2013.
I had a Tesco.net dial-up account years ago. It got cancelled when Tesco ceased doing a dial-up service. They assured me that I would be able to continue using my E-mail account although now free. It has been and still is a good service. However, how many people are there out there in a sort of limbo land, where because of not having access to info and help as no password to enter their system. In my case being out of TescoBB area, How much is the danger that these ghost accounts could suddenly be pulled without any notice being given. If a user has important Tesco- email clients, maybe financial, should these clients be put onto an email service from the users ISP.ie other than Tesco].after all if the plug was pulled overnight it would be a devil of a job trying to reconnect to the businesses,or maybe its all quite safe??

I would say its idiotic to have valuable emails on a service that may close at any time .
Many of my older email ISP accounts have continued for a number of years . But wake up one morning and they are gone .0 -
Since everybody change ISPs continuously, it is better to use Hotmail or Gmail for permanent e-mail address.
I have cancelled and re-joined Virgin Media multiple times, and have had to use new e-mail names each time, as the previous one is locked. Same goes with BT.
Pay As You Go dial-up is a free way of having an emergency backup connection to the internet, but you do need an old computer with a modem port. The Waitrose dial-up PAYG is still working, but not open to new customers.0
