Are Sky talking baloney?

I'm moving house and already have Sky TV so I thought I would get them to supply the phone line and broadband too in the new place. The Sky representative I spoke to said that the broadband in the area I was moving to was so slow that Sky would not be able to offer me regular broadband and that I would have to get their fibre optic service. Does this sounds right or is it a load of baloney?

Could you ask around a couple of neighbours just to check.
Is it more expensive or something.

I thought it was a set price whatever to be honest but I'm happy to be corrected.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Fibre broadband is a lot more expensive. £7.50 a month for regular broadband, £30 a month for fibre.

Not with Sky, I only pay £22.50 which is cheaper than my previous slow ADSL. Having had fibre I will never want to go back to regular ADSL

    :T

What speeds do you get with that? I think he was trying to sell me Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro (76Mb) which is £30 per month whereas Sky Fibre Unlimited (38Mb) is just £20 per month, both also have an additional £15.40 a month for phone line rental. I don't need the Pro as I live by myself so there's a limit to how many devices I can use at once.

    Hmmmmmmmmmm, I smell a rat.

SKY broadband is just about the most expensive....if not THE most expensive.

Shop around. Virgin are OK and reasonable, and plusnet is very good. Even BT. But Sky are too expensive.

I'll have a look to see what else is available on the market. I was just curious as to why I couldn't have regular broadband and would have to go for fibre. I thought it was odd.

    40 down/10 up.

Just realised I pay £20 (not £22.50). I'm pretty sure Sky said it would rise to £22.50 after I cancelled Sky TV, but that was 6 months ago and nothing changed.

Some areas of the UK are still on Connect -with Sky it's about £12 a month for horribly slow BB -rather than the regular BB with them at £7.50. However stupid as it sounds some these slow exchanges also have fibre available-the advisor MAY have felt you wouldn't want the slowest. I'd call back and talk to someone else and get the full story though.

If you know the name of the telephone exchange that would be supplying you then look for service availability thru SamKnows web site:-

Sounds like a crude attempt to upsell to FTTC. Use the exchange mapping facility on samknows to get a speed prediction on ADSL.
If it's a Sky non-LLU exchange, then you really don't want to be on Sky Connect.
