phones4 con deal !!!

I had bought the nokia 6300 online(vodafone deal) from the phones4u.co.uk with following terms :

Cashback amount
Is £ 480.00

Cashback months £480 - 3,6,9,12

12 Months FREE
Send your 3rd, 6th, 9th and 12th monthly bills within 30 days of the date stated on the relevant airtime bill, to us and we will credit you by cheque with £120.00 each time.

This will save you £480.00 over the 12 month duration of the contract. In effect this means that your average line rental per month over the contract period is £0.00 per month.

Please note: the above calculations are based on the basic line rental of the tariff and do not include itemised billing.

But today I have received letter !!! claim document from them regarding the exact terms and astonished to found that the t&c are different from the one which were displayed at the time of order :
Any failed cash back will invalidate future cash backs and as well as one has to file the claims in original form . This letter directs that one need to send the latest bill on or after 12th sept instead of 3rd airtime bill.This information was not mentioned on their website or on the order screen at all.
The only good thing is that the cashback submission time is 60 days instead of 30 days as displayed on the screen.


These specific clauses were not displayed at the time of order which i feel that this company wants to cheat the customers.

I'm afraid I posted some comments on Phones4you in the last few days. I called them after seeing their 12 month free deals to clarify the PRECISE t&c. I have learned a LONG time ago NOT to take things at face value - and have warned about doing just that many times on here.

This company told me contradictory information on the phone and when I sent numerous emails asking some specific questions I merely kept getting back what LOOKED like an automatic response suggesting I call them so they could "talk me through it" - even though in MY emails I had specifically told them that and that I wanted the questions answered in writing. Eventually I sent an email to another address and told them what I thought of them (given that I also had informed them that I had several friends I might recommend in addition to using them myself).

The complete refusal to PUT anything in writing indicates they are intent on people getting their claims wrong - so I left them WELL alone and have been recommending others on here too.

You COULD always return it!
