Free flight upgrades?

Is there any possibility of changing your flights to go with Emirates?

You might have to pay extra, but it is well worth it.
If you have booked a package with a mainstream Tour Operator such as First Choice, it's highly unlikely you can just change your flights to a scheduled airline. In the very unlikely event the Tour Operator can help, you are probably looking at a flight supplement of around £500 per person at least to fly Emirates. The brochured prices are all worked out around the charter flight.

Re - Thomas Cook Upgrades, there is a Premium Service on board each flight but only a certain amount of seats available. Speak to the agency you booked through who will tell you how much it is. Depending on where you are going it's around £200.00 return to upgrade and needs to be booked with the people who booked your holiday and added onto the booking.
Seat pitch in premium is around 34 inches depending on the aircraft and you also get other freebies such as drinks and better food.

    I've been Money Tipped!
After reading "Air babylon" and what they do to you when you ask for a free upgrade i am never going to ask again! Lol.

Oooh - What do they do to you????

And if you really want to get a free upgrade then the best way is to earn it - join a frequent flyer club like BA exec club and fly a lot, basically:confused:.

I also used to fly with United a fair bit and got a free upgrade on my last flight to LAX - very nice too, got offered one on the way back if I was prepared to wait a day but had children to get back to - sniffle:o

Is that a hunch or based on fact? I know which mine is.

British Airways have three aircraft types on longhaul

Boeing 747 (2 configurations, 1 with 70 Club class, 1 with 38 Club class, though increasing to 52 Club at the moment.)

    Boeing 777 (1 configuration)

    Boeing 767 (1 configuration)

So BA have 4 longhaul seating configurations and yes, aircraft configurations are allocated to a route as soon as is goes live for sale. If you check a loading list in Amadeus you'll be able to see this. Under some circumstances BA will change an aircraft configuration, though this will be months out and will be for commercial reasons. What I have is based on fact. I have the distinct feeling that you are basing your post on a hunch.

So you have the same access to a CRS that I do. Well done.

However, whatever I thought was a fact, i'd still defer to a BA pilot. Wouldn't you?

If they are flying with Monarch it is possible that the OP is going with Kuoni. Kuoni give you the option as to who you fly with, albeit at a supplement (cost me around £200, including a night's accommodation in Dubai), well worth the extra expense.

It could be anytime. If the Premium classes are fully booked but someone dosen't check in, it could be at the Gate. They'll have you on the SFU list - suitable for upgrade.

    mystic_trev is right,

My friend is a Platinum Card holder for Air France's Club and gets upgraded either at check in or at the gate.

My ex boyfriend (who people seem to think is a minor celeb, I just think he is an absolute dream!) usually has to board the plane then he will be escorted 'through the curtain'!
