Asset value's haven't changed much. Their price has risen because the value of the pound has fallen. And I can't see that changing anytime soon.A_Flock_Of_Sheep wrote: »Everything is looking a bit over valued now.“It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends on his not understanding it.” --Upton Sinclair0 -
I have just 1000 invested so far and would like to keep investing in UK small caps so trying to think should I keep and open another UK small cap fund next year and continue into it or transfer all to a new uk small cap fund.
Any suggestions or other UK small cap funds to consider anyone?
Thanks0 -
Always find it fascinating that as soon as people think they might be excluded from something that they want it all the more.I see the Cazenove UK Smaller Companies fund is to hard close in January after passing the £1bn mark. Cue final stampede before the deadline... Its figures have been stellar.
Before anyone rushes to put money into a fund that's about to hard/soft close they might want to consider why the managers have decided to turn customers (and their fees) away.
They presumably think that the amount of new money coming in is having, or will have, a negative effect. Could be they think the size of the fund has made it unwieldy or that they think that if there is a downturn in performance then the rush for the exits will cause problems. If we trust a manager enough to invest with him then perhaps we should trust him enough in his judgement that the the current size of the fund might now be sub-optimal and could lead to problems.
PS. I've got money in that fund and I'll be considering the options for leaving it put or moving elsewhere.0 -
Had this on my watch list and was thinking of starting to invest shortly, may look for an alternative to ensure I can drip feed going forward.
Thanks for the heads up!0 -
As a promising alternative, Marlborough Multi Cap has got itself off to a pretty reasonable start. I put the post on here not to gloat but just to inform maybe those who didn't know that a spectacularly successful fund is pulling up the shutters to investments.0

As a smaller companies fund I suppose having nearly a thousand million pounds makes it a bit unwieldy.
As a comparison the European smaller companies fund I'm currently using only has about forty million invested in it.IANAL etc.0 -

I quite like Marlborough Special Situations. However, even that is at £700 million. In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0 -
All I need to do is purchase into the Cazenove fund discussed here and it will drop like a stone.0

I've been slowly moving money out of individual shares and into this Cavezone fund (as well as the Marlborough Micro Cap and Unicorn Income funds) but may have to top it up by a bit more before January now, hmm... thanks for the heads up0

Unicorn UK Income seems to have run out of steam lately too.0
