TalkTalk Advice?

Hi all,

using this very site(!) as it was shown to be cheapest, i signed up for basic talktalk broadband+phone. equiv ~10£/month, yay!

long story short, service was fine for the first 2-3 weeks, and then it suddenly just went dead. several CS phonecalls & engineer visits later, we have a crossed line, and now waiting a further 3 weeks to get this fixed. we've had more time without a service than we have with, now. pretty unacceptable i think? in addition, due to crossed line, someone elses phone calls are appearing on my bill, which talk talk say "i will have to pay", and then be refunded later(!)

they just quoted me £90 to cancel. i paid £120 upfront for 1 yr line rental. dont really know where to go - so a quick look on the forums sees that i am not alone. what have other people been successful with?

- if i thought it could be fixed tomorrow, i would stay with tt to save the hassle. they dont seem to grasp this
- if i could completely cancel today and not pay fee/get back line rental (chargeback?), i would do so
- do i have a right to say that they have failed to provide service therefore im ok to just not pay the bill? they mentioned that "ofcom says if you have 28 days no service, you are entitled to cancellation" - anyone know about this?

really unsure, so if anyone knows better than i, i would love your advice, as you can imagine, it is frustrating.

thanks guys

Talk Talk are cheap for a reason.
However in fairness Talk Talk are reliant on BT Openreach to sort out line and exchange problems as are all the other ISPs.
So its going to be of no immediate benefit to you to cancel atm.
Just keep plugging away at getting TT to push BT OR.
That gum you like is coming back in style.
