I have red carpet manicure - its fab, lasts well and colours and replacements can be purchased from Sallys, as well as QVC and red carpet themselves (they also have lots of offers)0

I don't think it's healthy to use UV on nails or skin... just saying.0

I have ordered on boots today so thank you for the recommendation and the boots discount info!2019, move forward with positivity! I am the opposite of Eyeore :rotfl:0

i picked one of these up yesterday, plenty of stock on the shelves. followed the instructions all ok & did my nails in about 20 mins or so, used the red colour (really don't like the other pale taupe colour in the kit) & did a line of sparkles down the middle using a china glaze glitter, let that air dry then applied the top coat.
think i need to work on my application though as some nails look a bit 'thick', i found it hard to apply anything thinly as everything was quite gloopy.
quite pleased with the overall effect & will see how they last now as i spend a fair amount of time in the pool at the gym (which was the main reason i wanted to try a home gel system as my usually strong & flexible nails have been splitting & breaking at the moment, even though i'm applying cuticle oil like it's going out of fashion!).
is there a thread anywhere on here where sensationail is discussed, tips & tricks etc.?0 -

You could start a thread!
I love your idea with the line of sparkles (will keep that in mind).
I bought a kit yesterday but it's a Christmas present from hubby so I can't even use it yetI'm going to check ebay for some different colours though, seems pointless waiting really.
YouTube has loads of videos about nail art, not necesasrily the Sensationail though.
Hope that helps a little0 -
bit of a pants webcam photo, but gives you an idea
had a look round on ebay/amazon too this morning as i can't say i'm too enthusiastic about the range of colours available on sensationail, bluesky brand seems to be well rated for colours/top & base coat, so i think i'll be ordering a few of those.
i'm also wondering if i can still use normal polish (from my vast collection!) with this system? cleanse, prep, base coat, normal polish left to air dry (1-2 coats), then top coat. curing after each gel coat as normal. if my layer of sparkles worked ok, i'm thinking it might work?
i hadn't realised that there wasn't anything included for removal in the kit (apart from the tool thingy), so i ordered some pure acetone & finger wraps off ebay to try. i'll be adding cuticle oil to the acetone so it isn't as drying.
& yes, good old youtube for how to do anything! found some good ones for a sparkle/gradient look i want to try. blingtastic!0 -
There are two types of nail curing (drying) machines - UV lamps with replaceable bulbs or LED lamps that do not ever need new bulbs. The difference is that LED lamps cure the nail varnish in seconds and are therefore more expensive, whilst the UV lamps take minutes to cure polish and are less expensive.
The gel you refer to is the type of nail polish. It remains chip free for about two weeks compared to normal nail polish.
I have wanted my own kit for a while and have researched it on the web and was saving up to buy a kit with all the necessary products and accessories including a LED lamp ( cost approx £70.00 to £100.00) on e-bay. However Boots have a great saving at the moment ( finishes 5/12/13 I think). They are selling a complete starter kit including a LED lamp and the necessary accessory products for just £45 instead of £100.00 plus. The only extra product your OH would need to buy are foils and polish remover.
I have gone and bought the kit and as it also contains two gel polishes your OH could use it immediately upon receipt.
Hope this helps.0 -
Thanks for all the help i firstly bought another sensational kit from Boots but took it back yesterday and got the one in the latest offer.WHOOOOSHHHHHHHHH……..
Blimey what was that ?
That was your life mate
Oh I wasn’t quite ready can I have another go ?
Sorry mate only one per person.0 -
I bought the Sensational kit and I was impressed. I did the plum colour and then added a blue sparkle gem on the corner of each nail using the top/base coat as the 'glue' and cured it on, solid as a rock now. I think the colour is a little dark, so will look for more red colours. Easy to use piece of kit. I need to get the remover nowSaving for Xmas 2015 #53 £50 / £365 :snow_laug0

I was looking round YouTube till the early hours last night, it's very addictive! Now I've got excited and might just have to try some designs out with regular nail polish lol.
I've ordered a couple of glitters from ebay ready for Christmas :j0
