So you regularly drive beyond the limits of available grip, and think that's laudable?I expect the brake pads to use the ventilated discs. I expect fitting better grooved discs and pads to improve the braking yet again.
Except, of course, neither vented nor grooved discs improve maximum retardation. Maximum retardation is governed by the grip from your tyres. What venting, grooving, drilling discs do is to improve cooling, and prevent fade.because we are better than the average run of the mill, plod to work driver. I know I'm better, and use the technology that I can now, to the limit, and not live in the past. If you think you can switch off your ABS/ESP, and manage to drive and still process what the ecu is doing as well, you're insane, that's like saying you're just as good with a vintage set of points with a distributor and manual advance /retard lever, and still match my performance.
Let's hope your reality check comes in the form of a chat with Mr Plod. And soon.0 -

You're still not understanding the difference are you. I can't help with your driving skills, but if you think using the abs means you personally have exceeded your skills, that's probably the point you should be driving too then. So I accept you are driving to your personal limits, and you are correct to realise them as they apply to you.0 -

One of us is.but if you think using the abs means you personally have exceeded your skills
No, I think it's you exceeding the grip you have available. In fact, cancel that. I _know_ that's what it is. Because that is exactly what it is.0 -
I have triggered the ABS in my car once. Doing so was not an example of good driving on my part.0

Don't feed the troll, it encourages them.0

Fair enough. You're scared of ABS, and somehow it makes you think you've failed as a driver if it kicks in and scares you. Not everyone knows what it feels like, and it can surprise them. I can read the road conditions, I can predict what the grip will be, when the ABS will kick in, and I know I can use the technology, and still brake and steer. If you can't read the road, I respect that, and respect you drive accordingly.0 -
I know, I know - but what's worrying is that I don't think it is a troll. I think he's serious...gilbert_and_sullivan wrote: »Don't feed the troll, it encourages them.0 -

Ok, so you were driving badly, and it scared you. So what technology do you think is good to use?0 -
